"From what I see, you look better, my son." Dracul swung the Void Sword from side to side, with his back straight and his free fist clenched behind it.

"I appreciate your concern, father" Alucard did the same with his Crissaegrim illuminating in blue – although I insist that it is unnecessary.

"Oh, I'm aware" he raised his point towards his rival "but your mother has been restless, no matter how much I confirm your strength."

"I understand" he imitated the gesture "Despite everything, she still has a hard time adapting to the fact that we are not human" he made a face "especially me."

The Dragon smiled with a hint of something close to sweetness in his gaze:

"And you better get used to it. You can be the fiercest wolf to the rest of the world, you can spend as many centuries as you want to live, and I can say without a doubt, that you will always be her puppy. I know from experience."

It was his turn to laugh, despite him:

"The worst thing is that... if I'm honest, I don't think I have any problem with that."

"You shouldn't, my son," he said sarcastically, "you really shouldn't."

The swords clashed and energy erupted around them. Since it was the same type of magic, neither of them would receive damage even if it had been a serious confrontation. Both had changed their armor for simple pants and shirts partially open at the chest. Boots clicked on the stone floor of the huge plaza with every movement.

"Luckly that she has company and hobbies that help distract her mind" Alucard commented between metallic clicks "she has spent a lot of time in distress. You don't know how glad I am that she can smile again."

Dracul had retreated and advanced again to the rhythm of the weapons:

"It's all thanks to you, Patricia and your... lovely friends who don't let them alone."

Alucard raised an eyebrow at him as the blades collided again with a screech.

"And you have nothing to do with her good humor, father? Or maybe she with yours?"

A secret smile appeared on the dragon's lips:

"Well, some of us have our... methods."

The wolf rolled his eyes:

"I think the girls' gossip is going to end up being right, fortunately."

"I'm afraid I know what they are about," he snorted and the swords faced each other again.

With a thoughtful gesture, Alucard asked:

"You have made the metaphor of the wolf and you know it from experience, are you referring to the cub that you raised when you were children?"

A strange expression crossed his father's face:

"You know about that" it wasn't a question.

"Mother told me" he answered anyway "she adopted a puppy as if he were a dog, and it was after you saved him that you approached. It was you who revealed the truth to her."

In an extremely human gesture, the one who was once Gabriel closed his eyes. Was that nostalgia when he looked at it again?

"Sometimes I forget that things like this happened in some distant past. However, every time they return I notice something different. So young, so naive, believing they have the world in the palm of their hand. And since then receiving glimpses of what the future held."

"Since I found out about it, I haven't been able to stop thinking about what the possibilities are for such a coincidence."

"And you're not the only one," he snorted sardonically, "believe me."
