Crossing his arms, Dracul leaned against the nearest pillar. He had memories of when he did the same thing as a human.

"Not yet?" Alucard was adjusting the sleeves of his dark green suit.

"I don't think it will be anytime soon, my son."

He just raised his eyebrows and smoothed the silver strands of his hair.

"I don't know if it is appropriate to comment on women and their perception of time when they get ready, despite the ages."

"It is not. I learned to feel rewarded for waiting."

The younger vampire had to laugh:

"I must agree. I used to mentally complain about Sypha when she got into one of her hairstyles... until I discovered that some of my colleagues had it worse" he let out another laugh, but the dragon had looked up at the mention of his son's wife. "But in the end, I had to shut my mouth when she incarnate the perfection in front of my eyes" his face became sad "I did feel rewarded."

Dracul was silent, suddenly struck by his son's pain. He knew what it was like to have everything he loved most taken away from him, and well, Trevor had had a family too. Since he himself did not know of the existence of his son, he could not have guessed that there was someone waiting for him at home. And then, the tragedy repeated. As if he couldn't hate the Brotherhood or himself more for what they were capable of doing. Only he was blinded by anger.

Wasn't that a lovely mantra?

Although, if his memories were correct, perhaps there was still hope. Anyway, the words had to come from his son:

"Do you still love her?" He asked.

The moment Alucard's face went blank, he knew the answer. He listened carefully anyway:

"I have tried to move forward, focusing on my research and my own war was what really mattered. With my human disguise or with this strange appearance of an immortal, many women came to me, some with a morbid attraction, others with real feelings. When I learned how empty it could feel only with meat, I rejected them all. The maidens who follow me today, I chose for some reason or another based on loyalty and that alone. If they love me it is like a teacher and protector and it will never be more than that. Because, how can I accept someone, if every time I close my eyes, it is another face that comes to my mind. Apparently my heart has been frozen in time along with the rest of my body. I no longer have anything to complain about, nor anyone to blame: only myself for saying goodbye to them that night."

»"Simon... he had a good life. After seeing his revenge accomplished, he found a charming woman and he was a better father than I was. He never stopped fighting evil, and he never abandoned them. Sypha would be proud of him. My only regret is not being able to be with her until the end."

The spirit of Belhnades, the spirit that was protecting Simon during his journey through the castle. Did he know about that?

Well, it was neither the right time to ask, nor was it the right time to reveal some matters.

That's why the Dark Lord made a solemn gesture with his face before saying to his son:

"We must not exchange more forgiveness for the decisions we made in the past. He moved his pieces and we were His pawns, the curse of our lineage is about choosing between those we love and our duty as warriors, and something or someone will be sacrificed in the process, it is what He dictated for us" he growled low "but not anymore. We are more now and we will not let Him control us. Your wife, appreciate the time you had with her and let her love guide you. And perhaps... you can be rewarded."
