Demi's POV

They boys arrive in the cafeteria before me. And the once loud cafeteria goes quiet. I look around the corner, and everyone is staring at them and whispering. I cannot believe that prejudice lives in a royal society. I enter after them, and I can feel everyone's eyes shift to me.

"Can you boys calm down? You are making a scene." They look around and see everyone looking at them. They straighten up immediately. "Just get something to eat, and sit down at an empty table."

We go through the line. And all the food is fresh and vibrant. There are slim pickings on the Isle for most families. My dad's powers gave us access to better food, and later myself, once he taught me.

"Wow on the Isle, we would never have all this food," says Carlos.

"Yeah if we did my dad would make me steal, and either he would eat or sell to other people."

"What about you Demi?"

"Just get a move on, we are holding up the line."

We take our food, and sit down, at an empty table, and people are still whispering and staring.

Carlos picks up a fresh apple of his tray, the last thing on his tray and looks at it feelingly. "I remember this time. I found a basket of apples just in the middle of the street. They looked just like this. I knew the evil queen, and her history with apples. I was starving so much I did not care. I ate an entire one, everything but the seeds and it was so delicious. After a while nothing happened to me, so I took them home, and hid them in my room. I ate them all, and never shared them with anyone. I felt so guilty.

"You shouldn't. Most of the villains on the Isle had a chance to become better. Better people, and better parents. Like my dad. But, they did not. The continued their cycles of violence, but onto their birth children. In most fairy tales the villain is the step mother or someone distant. And protagonist is the step daughter or some random person. In the Isle, you only have villains and their kids. The adults can either do better or do what they did to the hero of their story to their kids. If they chose to clean up their act, maybe we could have been brought over years ago," says Demi.

"Maybe we should help them, we could take food to them. Or convince Ben to at least," Carlos says optmiscally.

Demi looks up her eyelashes just flicking. "That is not my problem. There is only one person I care about on the Isle, and that is my dad. Thank you for having dinner with me. I am going back to my room.

As I exit, I run into of course Chad. I roll my eyes. "Excuse me."

He stops and looks back at me, but I keep going.
