chapter 12: the match

"okay hi" xavier gently spoke into the mic but was soon met with luna's loud voice through the speakers

"that is literally not how you begin a game you idiot, min-min i told you to re-think the decision of having xavier here" luna said while looking at her professor who simply shrugged and motioned for the twins to carry on

"uh- well alright HELLO EVERYBODY! IS EVERYONE READY TO WITNESS YET ANOTHER LEGENDARY GAME BY TWO OF OUR FAVOURITE HOUSES" xavier shouted into the mic trying to get the crowd riled up, which he was successful in since it was met with the sound of students woo-ing and cheering

"let's not waste any more time, and welcome the teams. RAVENCLAW!!!" luna exclaimed and was met with cheers as the ravenclaw team flew to the field all in their brooms, luna looked upon the team and was immediatly filled with a sense of adrenaline even though she was not even up there playing along.

while xavier introduced the players of the ravenclaw team luna could not help but wonder what it would be like to be up there playing a match and having so many people cheering you on.

"and next we have the GRYFFINDORS!" xavier bellowed

"captain wood followed by johnson, the weasley twins, spinnet,bell and potter with the newest attraction that almost made me miss my breakfast today- his firebolt!" luna introduced her house's team with the biggest grin upon seeing her friends fly in, 

xavier then went on a rant on the firebolt and its specialities which he stopped upon receiving a blow from his sister with her elbow on his ribs.

the game began soon after the two captains were seen shaking hands in the middle of the field, luna and xavier were simultanously commentating whatever was happening,

"AND thats another 10 for gryffindor by johnson herself!" xavier said

"ANGELINA YOU BEAUTY YOU ARE SO ATTRACTIVE, MARRY ME" luna screamed into her mic which was met with a chorus of laughter and angelina blew a kiss at the younger girl while she pretended to faint at the gesture but hastily sat up upon noticing cho chang and harry race towards the sighted snitch.

despite the gryffindors leading, if cho managed to catch the snitch she would easily land a victory for the ravenclaws,

"HOLY SH- SUGAR MUFFINS! the seekers have sighted the snitch!" luna corrected herself upon feeling xavier stomp upon her feet to stop her from swearing which led to mcgonagall smirking at the boy while the girl grumpily looked at her brother and then the house head. 

it was clear that the firebolt had given harry a clear leverage against cho's comet 260, he was only a mere few centimeters away from the snitch when the students gasped upon noticing the arrival of 3 cloaked figures towards the boy. luna immediatly stood up from her seat and shot mcgonagall a worried look which she mirrored and instantly got up to step in to get some help,

ron and hermoine too seemed to have forgotten about their spat as the they clung on to each other looking through the binocular they had, hoping that somehow harry won't end up in the hospital wing like last time, which they had little hope in considering his history of not being able to remain conscious around dementors,

however harry seemed to not be as concerned, he swiftly took out his wand and immediatly yelled-

"expecto patronum!" harry said, and soon a silvery stag had come out of his wand. harry wasted no time but grabbed onto the snitch still ahead of him and returned back to the field ground with a huge smile on his face.

"ANDDD GRYFFINDOR WINS" the adams twins said together and jumped to hug each other which was joined in by the professor behind them as well.

luna wasted no time and ran towards the field to go over to her best friend, she was the first one to reach harry as his teammates were still flying down towards the field and everyone else was busy cheering in the audience-

"HOLY SHIT HARRY, YOU JUST MADE ME SO PROUD!" luna screamed while, harry too enthusiastically hugged the shorter girl being equally as happy and excited as her. soon harry was met with the hugs and pats of his teammates, while luna stood at the side celebrating with her two other best friends who had ran down equally as excited and were shining with joy.

"i mean, i may not have wooshed away the dementors and led the team to victory but i didn't do too bad. right luna?" she heard george speak up from next to her, just the mere sight of him made her smile so hard. a smile that george would probably not be able to forget even if he wanted to,

"oh come here you ass" luna said and jumped up to hug the much taller boy who welcomed the hug with the most enthusiasm one could possibly fathom.

the two remained in the hug for a while, although it seemed too short for their liking but when hermoine had cleared her throat a little too loudly while smirking it had already been several seconds since they went into the hug, luna and george somehow felt their absolute best selves just by having each other's presence near them. the hug was home for them, one that they would always come back to and something told them that it would remain that way despite anything.

"was i a good lee substitute?" luna asked as the pair walked towards the changing rooms

"the best! not to mention the prettiest too" george said a little too calmly, it might've been the adrenaline of just having won a game but george himself couldn't believe how calmly he had said it

"i dont think lee would be very appreciative of the fact that you said im prettier than him, but im not complaining" luna said with a small laugh

"oh please, lee is THE prettiest. no one matches to him" fred said as he walked next to the two having heard their conversation

"not to mention, he definitely never proposes to angelina in the middle of the game" harry added with a laugh,

"he might as well have. ive heard him trying to flirt with her SO many times" luna said

"what? angie? lee flirts with you?" fred asked suddenly a little to invested in the conversation, angelina who had been walking along the group but not really keeping up with their conversation as she was talking to katie and hermoine about something else simply looked at fred upon hearing her name being called and said- "full on!" having no clue what the group had previously been talking about

fred simply widened his eyes at her enthusiasm and went to his twin brother whispering something with a great sense of urgency and then looking a luna seemingly asking for help in the matter that she already knew without having to hear what he had said.

she simply laughed along with george and skipped ahead with her arms tangled with his to which fred simply yelled profanities at the two calling them things like ' a pair of toes '

needless to say the match's success along with the news of draco's detention since it was revealed that he had actually decided to play a prank to scare harry during the game but instead himself gotten scared due to the patronus, left the entirety of the gryffindor house in high spirits for the rest of the day.
