"hey, harry will be fine. you know how tough of a lad he is, lunz." george comforted luna as she just sat there crying into george's sweater in the corner of the commonroom.

just a few moments before the entire gryffindor house, contrary to possibly the entirety of hogwarts was celebrating the selection of harry to the tournament.

everyone, even a few gryffindors took harry potter as a 'cheater' who cannot get enough of the spotlight, even the hufflepuffs threw a cold shoulder to the boy upon hearing the news of him being the 4th champion being annoyed at the fact that finally when hufflepuff was getting some recognition harry took away its charm by being another champion from hogwarts.

most of the teachers and even ron, harry's best friend did not believe him when he pleaded that he did not in fact put his name inside the cup. ron thought his own best friend put his name in the cup behind his back for fame and popularity.

luna had witnessed the row that went down between ron and harry in front of the entire gryffindor house possibly that led to her getting overwhelmed and secluding herself to the corner of the room. hermione too upon seeing her best friends fight was distraught and ran upto her room. not to mention the headache-giving worry that both the girls had for harry, genuinely fearing for his life since they knew the gruesome challenges and the death counts associated with being in the tournament.

one normal year was all they wanted.

harry isolated himself to his room not allowing either of the girls to even talk to him once after returning from being interrogated on how he put his name in while he incessantly told each and everyone one of them that he did not do it.

luna wasn't one to cry or break down easily but this was one of the moments where she felt nothing but helpless. the idea of harry possibly going through all the life threatening challenges along with the snides of the entire school made her beyond upset and she could do nothing to help the boy who she considered a brother.

george being george, always looking for luna in every room he is in found the girl in the said state and did not hesitate to take her in his arm while she cried about her best friend to him. it broke his heart and although he too, like the rest of the gryffindor house was elated that harry was chosen now truly felt bad for the boy having realised the troubles he would have to face.

"it's just- it's always him!

he's one of the kindest people i've come across yet he always has to go through so much and now even ron, his best friend does not trust him. oh, he must feel so awful"

george did nothing but listen into the girl silently crying and ranting while he held her for an hour straight till she calmed down considerably

"wow, your sweater does not even have to be washed i already did it with my tears" luna joked, while smiling weakly and looking up to the taller boy.

george laughed slightly and rubbed off the speck of tears on her cheeks using his hands, he couldn't help but stare at luna's eyes which somehow seemed to have layers and layers of depth in which he would happily get lost in

"what- i look awful right now, don't i?" luna asked upon noticing him staring

"yeah, kind of" george joked, the two silently laughed but ended up simply staring at one another, it was clear to both that their close proximity had definitely changed the atmosphere around the two.

luna wasn't sure of what to do, in her mind she had imagined this exact scene many times but was absolutely stuck not knowing how to proceed when it was actually happening, george was going through a similar predicament.
