chapter 16: letter?

now luna being a muggleborn has had to cope with many peculiar instances that she faced once appearing in the magical world, but the story that had just been narrated by sirius black, himself for some reason didn't seem all that gobsmackle to her.

especially now that a balding shabby, plump man who had very convincing rat-like teeth was standing in front of her, clearly scared out of his mind.

it was peter pettigrew, wormtail. "wormy." as per luna and xavier's bone-shaking dream.

"sirius..remus..my old dear friends!" the man exclaimed, luna already disliked his voice, although maybe the fact that he had been the reason harry had to live with his abusive family might be factored to it.

peter pettigrew quickly realised it was a no-go simply by the looks the two taller men were giving him, him getting out of the shack alive would be a miracle just by the ideas entailed by their facial expressions. hence he moved on to ron-

"ron! i was such a good, faithful pet! your first friend!" he tried to reason crouching slightly to reach at eye-level with ron who was yet to get up since his injured leg enabled him to do so.

"eugh- get away from me! i allowed you to sleep in the same bed as me!" ron shouted with disgust

"cece- oh my god! our celest! you look just like your mother-" he had quickly moved on luna, and was getting concerningly close to the girl 

"are you barking mad? being a rat-criminal shook a few screws in your head, have they? im a literal muggleborn!" luna asked in confusion and anger, unsure what to make of the things being spewed out of the animagus

"oh you poor girl- you and your brother" and before peter could proceed any further towards the girl sirius and remus instantly stepped in-

"i literally fucking dare you to go anywhere near my goddaughter, you rat" professor lupin said, the coldness in his voice almost made luna miss the word he had used to refer to her.

goddaughter? she was utterly confused and a part of her almost wanted pettigrew to spill more.

"what?" hermione voiced her thought, although it seemed sirius was close to tears, looking upon luna with an intense amount of adoration and luna couldn't help but feel a certain string in her heart pull, 

what was even happening?

"you heartless rat! you killed lily and james! you killed- you killed my cece!" sirius shouted, hermoine's voiced confusion momentarily remaining un-answered

"i had no choice! i would've been killed if i had not done so! you dont- dont know how dangerous he is- the dark lord" peter defended himself

"dark lord- my ass! i would've died rather than betray them like you did!" sirius said while taking strides towards the shorter man, harry having been conflicted by the entire situation seemed to finally fully confirm. despite not saying it out loud, harry now knew, sirius black was in fact innocent.

pettigrew quickly moved towards harry to plead before sirius got to him, actually probably murdering him-

"harr- harry, you look just like your father! james, my dear old friend!"

"how dare you mention james in front of harry?!" sirius had dragged the man to the floor, pushing him away from harry. it seemed as though the two older men were ready to kill him right there, although harry interrupted. he reasoned his father would not want his best friends killing each other, suggesting taking peter to the dementors.

it was odd to say the least, harry, ron, hermione, luna along with their defence against dark arts teacher walking with the most wanted wizard- sirius black and the previously known dead-peter pettigrew.
