"I'm sure by now you must all be very confused, angry, frightened. I can only assure you that everything that's happened to you... everything we've done to you, it was all done for a reason. You won't remember, but the sun has scorched our world." It switched from the woman to a video. It showed a large red sun, then cities on fire, everything burning.
"Billions of lives lost to fire, famine. Suffering on a global scale." The screen showed a city It was daylight, but there was rubble everywhere and fire still burning.
"The fallout was unimaginable. What came after was worse. We called it the Flare." The screen went back to the woman for a moment before showing images.
"A deadly virus that attacks the brain." The video showed people, their eyes wild hair ripped off their head, screaming, going crazy. Thick, black veins travelled under their skin.
"It is violent, unpredictable... incurable. Or so we thought. In time, a new generation emerged that could survive the virus. Suddenly, there was a reason to hope for a cure. But finding it would not be easy. The young would have to be tested, even sacrificed... inside harsh environments, where their brain activity could be studied... all in an effort to understand what makes them different... what makes you different. You may not realize it, but you're very important. Unfortunately, your trials have only just begun. As you'll no doubt soon discover, not everyone agrees with our methods." The lab behind your turned into a panic is scientists were getting shot.
"Progress is slow. People are scared. It may be too late for us, for me." Glass behind her shattered. "...but not for you. The outside world awaits. Remember..." She took out a gun and held it to her own head. "WICKED is good." She pulled the trigger and her body fell.

I looked away from the screen spotting a body, it was the woman's body. The other saw, and we slowly walked towards her.
As we did an alarm blared, and a door right beside us opened. It led to a hall, and at the end of the hall was a door.

    "Is it over?" Chuck hoped.

"She said we were important." I said.

"Well, what are we supposed to do now?" Newt wondered.

We still there in silence for a while, waiting for a response.

"I don't know." Thomas spoke. "But let's get out of here."

I smile at Newt, just as we were about to take a step we were interrupted.

    "No." It was Gally.
He didn't look well he looked sick and in pain.

   "Gally?" Thomas walked forward.

"Don't." Teresa stopped him. "He's been stung."

He dropped the key, but in the other hand, he was holding a gun.

"We can't leave." Gally looked like he was going to cry. His hand that held the gun shook like he was trying not to move it.

"We did. Gally, we're out." Thomas said. "We're  free."

"Free?" Gally sobbed. "You think we're free out there? No. No, there's no escape from this place." Gally raised his hand with the gun pointing it at Thomas.

"Gally, listen to me. You're not thinking straight." I say calmly. "You're not."

"Now, we can help you. Just put down the gun." Thomas told him.

"I belong to the Maze." I think Gally was trying to pull his arm down but something was fighting his mind.

"Just put down the gun." Thomas said.

"We all do." Gally shook his head.

    "Gally!" Thomas yelled.

"NO!" Chuck screamed as he jumped in front of Thomas.

Even though the gun wasn't aimed at me, Newt, sheltered me.
A spear shot through the air as the gun shot echoed.
I watched as Gally gasped a spear sticking out of his chest. He took a few more breaths before collapsing.

   "Thomas..." Chuck said weekly.

"Chuck. Chuck." Thomas quickly caught Chuck as he collapsed laying him down.

I looked as red started to stay in his shirt, growing.

"Oh, no. Chuck? Chuck?" Newt said.

    "Shit. Shit." Thomas repeated.
I got down beside Chuck putting pressure on the wound.

"Stay with us. It's gonna be okay." I blink, back tears.

"Hey, look at me, look at me, look at me." Thomas told Chuck. "Oh, shit. Chuck, look at me, all right? I got you. I need you to just hang on. Shit, shit, shit."

I remove my hands, I wasn't helping. Chuck's crimson blood stained my skin.

"Thomas, Thomas." Chuck spoke gasping. Chuck held something in his hand, it was a little figure.

"No, no, Chuck. You're gonna give it to them yourself." Thomas told the boy. "I told you that."

    "Take it." Chuck pleaded.

    "No." Thomas said.

"Thank you." Chuck placed the figure in Thomas's hand. "Thank you."

"No, Chuck, you're gonna..." Thomas spoke.
Chucks head rested on the ground, his arms fell, limp. "Chuck? Chuck? Hey."

Newt helped me up and I cried into his chest

"Hey, Chuck, come on." Thomas shook the boys body. "Come on, wake up. Damn it. We're out. We made it. Come on. I'm sorr... GODDAMN IT!"

A door opened in a light came shining in from the hallway. Thomas kept on crying, not leaving Chuck's body as people came running in.

Newt held onto me as the people rushed us out. I could hear Thomas screaming as we followed the directions.

Outside the world was hot, the ground what is sand. We ran onto a helicopter, Thomas was pushed on just as it lifted into the air.

"You guys all right?" One of the men that saved us asked pulling off his helmet. "Don't worry. You are safe now."
I sat resting on Newt as he had his arm around me.
We looked out the window. It definitely wasn't the Glade.
But we passed over the Maze, it was giant and in the centre was the Glade

"Relax kids. Everything's gonna change." The same man said.
