🧑Nik Anthony POV🧑

Ever since Tajea found out that my mother and her best friend tried to get us together romantically (please note that that was seven days ago), she has been acting a little odd towards me.

She's been doing her best to avoid me, treating me like I don't exist. She doesn't even argue or converse with me much any more. Well, only if it's about our precious little Nik or exchanging pleasantries. And I don't like this. No. Not one bit.

Man, I thought after that night we slept together (the actual meaning of the word and not what y'all dirty minds are thinking) there was progress. But unfortunately, it isn't so.

I'm a bit disappointed and angry. OK. I'm greatly disappointed and angry. But seriously, what can I do about it? I guess I have to be more patient with her until she's ready. Sigh. That's not happening any time soon.

Moving on to the Montgomerys. So after that tense meeting and McCarty paying millions out to them, Tavares' offspring violated the agreement the following day.

Again, they attempted to kill their bastard brother but failed. They've orchestrated to have me, Tajea, and my child killed. However, I ruined their plan before they could execute it.

But that's not all I did. I ensure the three and those who supported them can never be a danger to me or anyone I love ever again.

And no. I didn't have them killed, like McCarty advised me over and over again. I just took away what little power and money they had left. I forced the whole family to flee the city and never return.

But if they choose to defy me, take my merciful acts towards them as weaknesses. Then whatever happened to them next was out of my control.

"Mother, I got an A on my math test." Little Nik sounded excited while showing off his test paper to Tajea. I'm so proud of my kid.

"Good job, my boy." Tajea pulled him in for a hug and a few kisses. "You make Mother so proud."

"Since I got an A, can I have chocolate chip ice cream for dinner?" He requested. "Please, please, please, Mother. Please."

"Alright, you can have one scoop." Tajea thought about it before she answered.

"Two scoops, please," little Nik pleaded, holding up two fingers. It sounds more like he's trying to negotiate with her. The poor child doesn't stand a chance, though.

But it's nice to see that he has the mindset of a businessman at such a young age. There is no doubt that his future will be as bright as the sun.

"You can have one, or you don't have any," Tajea stated firmly. "Your choice."

"Alright," he voiced a little down.

"You can also have a slice of chocolate cake with it."

"Chocolate cake! My favourite." He was all excited again.

"The last one to the kitchen is a rotten egg." Tajea ran off, and little Nik chased after her.

"Someone seemed to be in a very happy mode today," Mother said as she sat on the couch across from me inside the living room.

"Yeah, little Nik sure loves his chocolate," I responded. But I knew that wasn't what she was referring to.

"I met with your father earlier today," Mother said with a little difficulty after some minutes had passed. "He wished to meet with you."

"Mother, you know very well that I don't want anything to do with that wretched man," I answered angrily.

"Well, it's too late for that. I am already here." The door to my house opened, and a very familiar voice spoke upon entering with Kenneth. One that I haven't heard in less than a decade. My father, Niklaus Argentine Durcostan.

How did he even get permission to access my property, much less my house? OK, stupid question, Nik. Of course, Mother allowed him entry.

"I told you to wait outside until I have a chat with him," mother scolded father.

"I tried, but you were taking too long." Niklaus took a seat next to Mother without being offered one. He made eye contact with me and greeted me with a smile. "Hello, son. Long time, no see."

"What do you want, father?" I asked, disgruntled. Of course, I'm not pleased to see this old bastard. I hate the guy.

"To make amends between us," he replied.

BS. He had plenty of time over the years to do so and refrained from doing it. So, why now? "Well, if that's the case, let me save you from wasting both of our time."

"Oh, don't be like that, son."

"Cut the BS and state your reason for being here already!" I thundered.

"Nik," My mother was about to say something, but I shut her down. I don't want to hear it. She betrayed me and my trust when she let this monster into my house.

I will have to remove her name from the list of people who can give authorization to enter my house.
