🧑Nik Anthony POV🧑
During my workout session at my home gym in the afternoon, Kenneth came barging in, seeking my permission to allow access to my home to a very disturbing and unexpected visitor. Elissa Montgomery.
That's surprising. I thought that family didn't want anything to do with me. After all, I deliberately destroyed their reputations and left them practically penniless.
Tavares, his wife, his brothers, and a few of their children are all behind bars. A few top executives who were involved in the laundering got imprisoned too.
I left no stone unturned in the Montgomery Group of Companies. Corrections, Nikcaleon Group of Companies. I changed the name and fired all the top executives, from the board right down to the managers in all fifteen branches. I washed all the Montgomery stains out of them and transformed them into something new—bigger and better. Just watch the news.
Now, enough of that. I wonder what she wants now. Why not find out from her?
I gave my approval for her to come in. However, I never met with her until my workout ended, which was about half an hour later.
Elissa looked elegant as ever, sitting ladylike on my couch. She also seemed a little annoyed. Maybe it's my presence, or maybe it's because I kept her waiting. But she masked it with what looked like a friendly smile.
"How may I be of help to you, Ms. Montgomery?" I asked as I sat opposite to her.
"I'm here to ask you for a job." She got right to the point. "I heard that, Montgomery. I mean, Nikcaleon Group of Companies is looking for two managers. And who is better for the position than me, who has been a manager for one of its branches for the past five years?"
"I went through so much trouble to purge all the fifteen branches of all things Montgomery. Tell me, why would I hire you, a Montgomery?" I snorted. She must have hit her head real hard coming all the way to my home seeking a job.
"Because I'm more qualified and suitable for the position than anyone you'll ever find," she replied.
"Is that so?" I had to crack a little smile. She's very confident and amusing. I have to give her that. "Have you forgotten that several days ago, you and your brothers threatened to have your legal team end me? And now here you are, asking for a job. Forgive me for finding that very suspicious."
"What do I have to do for you to give me the job?"
"What do you mean?" I asked, a bit confused.
"Do you want me to sleep with you?" She tried to come at me, and Kenneth got in the way. "If that's what it takes, I'll do it."
"What do you take me for?" I was angry at her. The nerve of this b*tch is unbelievable. She thinks she can just throw her body at me, and I'll give her the job. Heck naw. "Get out of my house! Now!"
"OK. But at least tell me, what has my family done to you? Why are you doing this to us? It's clear you have known for a long time about the money laundering and remained quiet. So, why now?"
"I'm sure you know your father has a bastard son." I might as well be honest with her. Plus, the family's wrath against the bastard would even make his suffering worse.
"Yes, what about him?" She asked curiously.
"Let's just say he hurts someone I care about a lot, and you all just get in the crossfire."
"So all of this is because of that worthless scum?" Elissa snarled. It seems there is some tension there. But that's not my problem.
"Exactly."
"Won't you reconsider giving me the job?"
"Kenneth, please escort Ms. Montgomery out of my house right now," I ordered.
"There is no need. I'll show myself out." Elissa got up and left.
Now that's over with. I need a bath. I smell really bad. I also made sure that the course was clear before I entered my bathroom this time. I don't want what happened the last time to happen again.
Afterward, I went down to the kitchen to get a light snack. Mother Miserable was there as well, cleaning the floor, and I felt the need to give her a little trouble. So, I purposely spilled some drinks on the floor. I know it's a bit childish and wrong. But it is what it is.
However, she didn't say a word. Tajea just acted like I wasn't there and cleaned up the mess.
I don't like this one bit. That is why I spilled more drinks on the floor, and again, she wiped them up. Nothing.
No. Something is definitely wrong with her. I wonder what it is. But I'm a little too scared to ask. Nonetheless, I did, but she refrained from answering.
Now, I'm worried. She left the kitchen, and I followed her to the storage room. There, she put aside the mop. She turned, bumping into me. However, she acted like it was nothing and walked around me. OK. I can't take this anymore.
"Did I do something wrong?" I asked, blocking her path before she could make it far, but she ignored me.
"Whatever I did, I'm sorry. Just, please, say something. You're scaring me."
Nothing still.
All I could do was silently follow her to little Nik's room, where she does a lot of tidying up. And dang, she made it look so easy, too. Afterward, she went to Mother's room and did some dusting, changing curtains and sheets, and cleaning the bathroom.
It's amazing to watch her at work. It makes me wonder how she cleans this huge place all by herself. I need to get her some help. Yeah, that's a good idea.
Finally, she's done with all the chores, or rather, what needs to be done for today. She went to her quarters. At first, I was hesitant to go in. But she didn't stop me, so I guess it's OK.
"Are you going to talk to me now? Argue with me? Called me rude names? Please say something." I was pleading for her to say something. Be her old, vile self. Still, nothing. Unfortunately.
Oh, I give up.
