Natasha's POV

"Are we there yet?" I asked Valerian as I rested my back on the car seat.

A couple of hours had passed and I think I was starting to get sick of sitting in the car doing nothing.

I played games on my phone and busied myself with the views outside but I did it for too long that I eventually got bored and now I have nothing left to do.

"Almost," Valerian answered.

My face lit up a little. "Really?"

"Yeah. . ." he trailed off.

I creased my forehead in confusion. "You're not so sure?"

"Are you sure you want me to sprint this car?" Valerian asked which made the crease in my forehead grow wider.

Oh goodness. He really thinks I'm scared of car rides just because I was scared in the airplane earlier.

"I swear to you I'm not scared," I told him.

"Okay." Valerian nodded. "But even if I do so, we still have a few hours left."

I pursed my lips. "Really?"

He nodded once again.

Gosh. I should have just faced my fears and rode the plane earlier.

I know that the town I lived in my whole life gets so boring at times but it was okay for me. It's kind of boring that brings you peace but this boredom that I feel right now-- fuck, I can't stand it. I can't seem to stay put. I don't know what to do. And I certainly cannot complain.

I don't have the right to.

Valerian isn't talking to me so much to keep me company.

The whole car ride is so quiet except when I say something about the views outside or when I say something about the game I was playing.

Valerian is so quiet-- well, not that he's normally talkative but he's extra silent the whole car ride and that's because he seems like he is really focused on driving.

It's so odd.

"Can't we just teleport?" I blurted.

Valerian took a glance at me sideways.

"No," he said.

My lips formed into a pout.

"What's wrong?" Valerian asked.

The pout on my lips grew longer.

"Natasha," Valerian called.

"I'm bored. I'm so bored sitting here and looking outside the window and I know I don't have any right to complain because I basically forced you out of that jet and forced you to drive 10 hours--"

"We're almost there, darling." Valerian cut me off. "Hang on a little bit longer."

I heaved a sigh of relief. "Really?"

Valerian nodded as an answer and unlike earlier, he seemed sure this time.

"Oh, thank goodness." I blew out a breath of relief once again.

"I have something for you to do to ease your boredom," Valerian said which piqued my attention fully.

I know for sure that my eyes brightened upon hearing what he said.

"What is it?" I immediately asked.

Valerian didn't answer.

I waited. . . patiently. But a couple of minutes had already passed and he still didn't say anything.
