Natasha's POV
It's been 15 minutes of dead silence after Valerian said what he said.
I'm not naïve, I know exactly what he meant by that phrase he just said to me and I don't know what to respond. Shit, I can't even formulate a single word.
And the worst part is that I don't know why I'm the one who is embarrassed. I can feel how hot my cheeks feel right now and how my heart is beating really fast in my chest.
Valerian on the other hand didn't say anything anymore after that. He went back to work-- typing something on his laptop.
Maybe he's really busy because seems like he put away the thought of him punishing me for disobeying what he said and he just continued to work.
Valerian already has all this grand wealth and yet he is still this hardworking.
He just knows what's the secret ingredient of success, and that is hard work.
There are sudden knocks on the door.
I thought it was his secretary again but the door opened revealing Elyse.
"Hi!" she greeted.
Her face lit up upon seeing me.
"I was right, you're here!" She beamed as she ran in our direction.
This girl.
I'm amazed by how she can run with ease while wearing a really high heels.
"What are you doing here?" Valerian asked, his voice came out cold like as if he's so done with his sister.
But I know better.
Under this cold façade of him, he showed me how far can he go for his sister.
I may not like Valerian for many reasons, but that makes me happy because just like him, I can go that far too for the people I really care about.
I somehow see myself in him in that part.
Elyse dramatically rolled her eyes at him. "Duh? Visiting obviously."
"You never visit here in this day," Valerian retorted.
"What? I can't visit here any day I want?" Elyse sat on the chair in front of me. "I went to your house but I didn't find any of you two there."
"Mhm, you did?" Valerian raised an eyebrow at her.
Elyse averted her gaze. "I did not go back to your house to see if you were there so I could kidnap your other half."
Valerian heaved a sigh. "Elyse, Didn't I tell you about--"
"Stop," I quickly said cutting off whatever he was going to say. I then turned to Elyse. "I'm glad you're here now. I'm getting so bored here already."
"Yeah, I felt that you were so I went here right away to save you," Elyse replied and winked at me.
I chuckled at what she said.
I suddenly felt someone staring at me so I turned to Valerian and saw that he was squinting his eyes at me.
I creased my forehead. "What?"
"Really? You're bored?"
I nodded. "Well, yeah. I have no one to talk to here since you were so busy."
"After you said you wouldn't get bored?" Valerian remarked.
"Ugh, stop! What? Natasha can't get bored now? What's so big deal about it?" Elyse groaned. "It's not her fault that she gets bored when she's with you and she never gets bored when she's with me."
