That was strange.
No, talking with Fabian through the messages was more than strange but it still happened and it was almost... nice until he stopped answering.
Maybe she had gone too personal with the last comment but she hadn't stopped to think after getting the negative feeling from his message about the gala. Although they weren't even friends, she had wanted to make sure that he was alright.
She had expected more like it's okay, I'm fine, nothing happened responses but then he actually admitted to having to lie about his father being a good man. Or did he mean a good father or even a good employer?
While she felt a bit unsure about that, she did understand that there were some negative feelings inside Fabian about his father just like Asher had. Unlike her friend, though, Fabian had most likely always stayed quiet about that or hadn't even understood that there was something messed up until yesterday.
Ever since becoming friends with Asher, he hadn't been too shy about his almost non-existent relationship with his parents and how much it changed after high school when he didn't want to follow Fabian into a business school or even college.
She was sure that there were other things going on that Asher hadn't told her yet because she had always gotten a feeling that there was something else that had ruined their relationship.
What Asher had told her, however, was how disappointed he was with Fabian's decision to follow their father's footsteps and act like him, do everything he asked only to make him proud as if it was all that he needed in life. Their approval. To make them proud. More specifically, to make their father proud.
Maybe Fabian had hidden all of that even from his own brothers and that was why Asher hadn't known that the relationship wasn't all that perfect either. She had a feeling that all brothers had a complicated relationship with their father in one way or another.
"Five months! Not that long anymore!" Asher reminded Charlie from the floor where she had been playing with her daughter, Viviana next to him.
As usual, he had invited himself to her home where he met her cousin and immediately became friends with her. If she wasn't a lesbian, Charlie might even think that they would make a cute couple.
Thankfully, the two of them had mostly entertained her toddler to give her time to relax or maybe take a nap. Well, she hadn't done that because she just wanted to stay there and talk with the people she loved.
As usual, she was completely forgotten as soon as Asher walked through the door because little Miss Drama Queen had a little crush. It was okay, though, because that man wouldn't break her heart ever again. Instead, he would only spoil her even more.
It was the cutest thing in the world when Aurora tried to say his name and it came out as Ase and his eyes softened.
All of that made her more and more convinced that he would be the best Dad in the world. He was amazing with children and he would love his own a million times more. Too bad he wasn't ready for a relationship and all that commitment.
"I know and my stomach knows it too," she groaned as she looked at her baby bump that seemed to grow more and more every day.
At this moment, it was amazing and almost hilarious when she had thought that she had a huge stomach at two months when she noticed it for the first time. Now she looked like a whale!
"Stop it, you're beautiful and your bump is cute," Asher winked, making her roll her eyes.
"You have to say that because you're my best friend," she mumbled which made his eyes brighten up because he must have heard the truth in her voice.
