It was almost December which meant that there was a little bit of snow on the ground but more importantly, there were only about five months until her baby was born. Unfortunately, she still hadn't done almost anything she had on her new to-do-list.
The biggest challenge was the fact that Aurora was still having trouble sleeping without her even though she was doing it just fine at the daycare. Charlie's heart was breaking because she didn't want to force her baby to grow up so fast but it had to be done because there was no way both children could sleep in the same room.
If that happened then the baby would keep Aurora awake and Aurora would keep the baby awake and Charlie would lose her mind while that happened.
Because the bedroom would belong to Aurora, the baby didn't have an official nursery so they would sleep in her room. In the ideal world, the baby would have a room for themselves like Aurora had when she had just woken up with a crib, cabinets for clothes and toys, baby wallpaper, and so on but that wasn't possible right now.
The best she could do was to put the crib next to her bed and put all of the baby's clothes in the wardrobe with her own. Their toys would be in large plastic bins next to the window. As for Aurora, she had more room in her room with a new bed that she had just bought and separate cabinets for clothes and books.
One of these days she would also put wallpaper in there but she just hadn't had any time or energy for such a big work. If she wasn't struggling to stay awake after her own work at the tattoo shop then she had to focus on Aurora.
There had been a few times when the morning sickness had been so awful that she couldn't go to work. It made her nervous because she had just started there and she was already calling in sick. Then again, she hadn't been hiding the fact that she was pregnant at the interview and Jeffrey had still hired her. Probably out of pity.
Ramona had been right about him being a good boss who would give you a chance as long as you weren't being an ass and untruthful. He respected honesty and had been only kind and understanding about her situation. Of course she hadn't told him about Mason or how she became a single mother but perhaps he had realized that already.
Today was Saturday which meant a day off for both Charlie and Aurora. They had just woken up and watched a movie together which gave her a good chance to just lay on the couch and just relax which she didn't get to do nearly as often as she or her body would prefer.
The sound of a doorbell ringing made her groan and wish that whoever was there would realize that they were at the wrong door but like always, her wish didn't come true. Clearly, they couldn't read her mind because they rang the doorbell again and then the third time.
"Stay here, baby, Mommy's coming back soon after she has murdered that person!" Charlie got her daughter off her lap and out laying on her spot before going to open the door.
Before doing that, she made sure that she looked at least a human with her hair in a lazy ponytail, grey sweatpants, and a white top that showed a lot of her growing baby bump. While in the past she liked to put some effort into the way she looked, nowadays she just went in the easy way because it took less time and energy.
It was a shame because Charlie used to love choosing clothes that fit her personality and style, wearing colors, and doing her make-up and hair, due to the pink hair color. It all changed because especially this pregnancy and taking care of Aurora all alone took time, and suddenly choosing clothes just didn't seem all that important anymore.
After the door was opened, it revealed Asher who didn't seem to understand the importance of a lazy day due to pregnancy for obvious reasons.
"What are you doing here?" she frowned, more annoyed about this surprise visit than happy or excited. This ruined her whole plan of just chilling with her baby.
