What the hell was she doing here?
Dressed in a blue jean jumpsuit with a long-sleeved white shirt underneath, she looked good. And very pregnant. So again, why was she here? This was a bar, for a fuck's sake, and there were a lot of drunk people who weren't in the position to watch out crazy pregnant women.
Of course he had remembered that she worked somewhere in this mall but he had prayed that he wouldn't see her tonight when Noelle had asked him to join her and Diego. There were quite many bars and restaurants near the mall so chances of them going to the same bar on the same day were pretty low. And yet, here they were.
Fabian knew that he should have just said no to Noelle and stayed at work but he had a soft spot for her. Always had and always would.
After seeing Charlie staring at him, he only glared at her and tried to pretend that she wasn't there. It wasn't any of his business to make sure that the young woman was safe. Besides, she was there with two people, a man and a woman, who should be the ones to tell her to go home and stay safe there.
Instead of doing that, those idiots had bought her a drink. What the hell? Fabian assumed that she was smart enough to ask for non-alcoholic but having a drink and sitting there meant that she wasn't leaving anytime soon. For some reason that bothered him more than he could put into words.
"Hello? Are you listening?" Noelle's voice woke him up from his thoughts and he blinked, noticing that she was also waving her hand in front of him.
"Yeah, sorry," he apologized and tried to remember what she was talking about. How long had he been staring at Charlie? "You were talking about that girl you were on a date with and it sucked because..."
"That was like five minutes ago, asshole!" his friend chuckled before turning to look at where he was staring at.
"What were you looking at? You looked like you saw a ghost," Diego frowned in confusion, looking at Charlie's way but couldn't connect the dots since he had never met her.
It better stay that way too. The less Charlie was involved with him, his friends, and his life, the better. It was bad enough that Asher had become such good friends with her.
Unfortunately, Noelle had met Charlie once and apparently also remembered her since she started to wave and shout her name, embarrassing Fabian. What was she? Four years old? Not only did he have to remind his brothers about the manners without success but now he would have to do the same with her.
"Charlie! We're here! Charlieeee!" Somehow only a few people turned to look at them, no, at Noelle but others were probably too drunk to even hear anything. She should still know better than to act this way.
It was clear that Charlie heard him because she kept staring at Noelle and Fabian but didn't follow her orders. Only when her friends stood up and nodded Noelle's way did she start to walk across the room where they were sitting.
Crap, now he would have to talk with her. Damn you, Noelle!
As soon as Charlie and her two friends who he now noticed to be around ten years older than her which confused him, especially because the other was a man, Noelle hugged her immediately.
The pink-haired woman wasn't expecting that and she froze for a second. She was staring at Fabian with wide eyes that were basically screaming for a help but she eventually hugged her back awkwardly.
"Hey! What a surprise! How are you?" Noelle sat down next to Fabian while their new guests took chairs at their tiny table. Diego moved closer to Fabian so that they had more space to sit with them and Charlie sat between him and Noelle, glancing at him as if to make sure that he wasn't moving to sit next to her.
