IT was currently late in the afternoon and there was one last period until school was finally over. She wanted nothing more than to leave this place and just go home. Due to Ms. Kelly's suggestion, Mary was able to talk to Barbara earlier today. They have two classes together which are P.E and study hall. She was very nice about the situation and even expressed how she looked forward to being her tutor. They came to terms with meeting up after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Mary approached her locker to gather her math books for her last period and yet she wasn't expecting to see Nancy Wheeler standing by her locker. She could visibly tell the guilty expression Nancy was wearing once they made eye contact.
"Hey," Nancy greets first with her usual friendly smile.
"Hello," Mary responded casually.
"Look there's something I need to tell you-"
Mary cuts her off to save her the trouble. "I already know. Ms. Kelly told me this morning."
Nancy's face formed into relief. "Oh, I thought she was going to tell you after school today. I would've told you way sooner then."
Mary shrugged before opening her locker. "I'm sorry that I'm bailing on being your tutor. It's just... I've been busy lately and I figured you should have a tutor that will give you their 100% which is why I suggested Barb. She's probably way more smarter and eligible to be your tutor than I ever was and..."
"Nancy, it's fine. It's no big deal." Mary cuts her off once again.
Nancy let out a sigh. "Thanks for understanding—well I guess I'll see you around, Mary."
