THE HIDDEN EXPERIMENT
benny's body
JUST as planned, Mary woke up earlier than usual. It was still dark outside when her eyes opened and she wanted nothing more than to fall back asleep. However, she decided to do the responsible thing and work on her assignments and homework.
It took her about a few hours to complete her assignments mainly due to being distracted with the disappearance of Will Byers. She didn't know why this was getting to her — it almost felt personal. Perhaps since "nothing" really happens in Hawkins... at least on the outside. Unfortunately, no one will truly see the darkness Hawkins can hold and the people who are a part of that darkness.
Another reason why it took her such a long time to finish her homework was because it was so damn hard to understand.
The sun was finally coming up and she briefly watched the sunrise before getting ready for the day. Mary has never been the one to doll herself up just like the rest of the girls who have their hair in a fancy updo with put-together outfits. Honestly, that's how people are in Hawkins. They really care about appearances and status, but Mary was taught to never stand out. From the way she acts down to the way she dresses. She couldn't risk standing out too much since it could gain unwanted attention.
Truly it never bothered her that she couldn't dress all pristine, but maybe she wouldn't get bullied as much if she wore what every other girl was wearing.
Mary put her arms through her tan hoodie that had an art drawing of a squirrel eating nuts, (her favorite hoodie) and a long black flowy skirt that reached to her ankles with a pair of her battered-up black converse that she wears every day. Her wardrobe mainly consists of those types of outfits, especially hoodies and long-sleeved shirts. She tries to wear long sleeves to cover her tattoo. She also wears a bunch of bracelets for extra caution. Not caring too much about her hair she simply put it in a high ponytail just before going to the bathroom to do her usual morning ritual.
As she descended the stairs with her books and satchel bag in hand, there was no sign of Penny. Usually, she's already up and having herself a fresh cup of coffee, but just like last night, she had the house to herself. Then it dawned on her that Penny was not only coming home late but leaving early too.
