THE young girl's jaded green eyes flew open almost instantaneously at the sound of distant cries just beyond her isolated room. With furrowed brows, the girl listened closely to the wails outside the walls — with her feet planted on the hard granite floors, she propelled forward to understand what or why all these distress-sounding people here were screaming bloody murder. However, the closer she got, the louder the screams were as she clutched her ears with her hands.

Fear then consumed the little girl.

With no knowledge of what was going on, she felt vulnerable... helpless. A part of her felt somewhat relieved that she was (as of now) safe in her little sanctuary that she was so used to ever since she was a baby. Having her room feel like her own as she attempts to try to make it feel relatively comfortable and pleasant. But regardless of how welcoming she would try to make it, she still felt like a rare animal trapped inside a cage.

Another part of her wanted to help the ones who could potentially still be alive. If there are any, considering the sounds of the dreadful howls, it sounded like the vast majority were dead. Suddenly the little girl's heart dropped to her stomach as one person came to mind.

Miss Penny.

So many grievous thoughts filled her head that wouldn't dare for them to be true. The only person in this god-forsaken place who truly cared for her and was always kind whenever they would communicate with one another. Well more like Penny would do most of the talking and the little girl would just curiously listen.

When she first met Miss Penny, she was at first untrustworthy of the presence of another person who wasn't Papa. Yet curiosity got the best of her since Miss Penny seemed very different than Papa's workers. She was patient and very nice with her soft-spoken words.
