"Welcome, Avalon...to Angel Grove High School!" Dudley said as he and Avalon walked in the doors to the high school and she was smiling.
"More colorful than Hogwarts, that is for sure." Avalon noted as they walked through the halls to the Main Office.
They were passing by a group of kids wearing white, pink, blue, red, black and yellow talking by the lockers. The cousins turned two more hallways and ended up at the Front Office where the lady at the desk smiled at the two. Avalon walked forward and gave her name and date of birth so that woman could find it schedule.
"Here's the main office...mum and Mr. Lupin kinda wanted me to stick by you until you have your schedule and know exactly where classes are before I head off." Dudley told Avalon and she nodded as they waited for the people in the Main Office to give Avalon her new schedule.
"Wait...do you still have your....stick on you?" Dudley asked worried and Avalon jerked her head to her backpack.
"Never left home without it. However, I won't use it only in emergencies. Thank you." Avalon said to the lady at the desk before walking out with Dudley as they look over her schedule.
"Let's see....Science with Mr. Wilton....eesh, I wish you luck with him." Dudley said as two guys, one in red and the other in black walked over.
"Hey, Dudley, didn't see you at the Youth Center last week....what's going on?" The guy in red asked Dudley who shrugged.
"Spent some time with my cousin, Avalon. Avalon, these guys are Rocky and Adam, I hang out with them at the Youth Center at times." Dudley introduced his cousin who smiled at the two boys.
"Nice to meet you. Hey, you, Tommy and I have the same schedule, if you want, I can take over for you, Dudley." Rocky offered and both Dudley and Avalon shared a look and shrugged.
"Sure. See you at lunch, then Avalon." Dudley bid his cousin goodbye and headed off to his classes, leaving Avalon with Rocky as they walked in the other direction.
"So, you and Dudley are cousins? And you both are from England? What's that like?" Rocky asked and Avalon shrugged again.
"Wet and rainy at times. Dudley and I only just recently connected like right before he moved. Up until then I was living with my other uncle, Remus Lupin." Avalon explained.
And Rocky nodded before pointing out the different rooms for school use and what classrooms Avalon would need to go in. While Rocky was occupied with explaining something with science, Avalon turned and bumped into someone, causing her to stumble until the person grabbed her.
"Whoa....easy there." Avalon looked up and her bright green eyes met a pair of dark and warm brown eyes.
"Hey Tommy, I see you met the new student. This is Avalon...I did not get your last name." Rocky said as he walked over while Tommy helped Avalon stand up again and offered her a charming smile.
"Avalon Potter." Avalon introduced herself, though she did not really like using her birth last name.
"Nice to meet you, I am Tommy Oliver. Welcome to Angel Grove High." The guy, Tommy said with the smile never leaving his face.
"She has the same classes as us so I was showing her around." Rocky explained while pointing at Avalon's schedule and Tommy nodded.
"Awesome...come on, or we are going to be late for English and you know how Mrs. Appleby can get." Tommy said as he, Avalon and Rocky all headed for English class and took their seats as the bell rang.
"Well, it seems we have a new student with us. Miss Avalon Potter?" Mrs. Appleby said and Avalon raised her hand and Mrs. Appleby nodded.
"I won't make you stand in front of the class, however, I would like at least two pages of your life before moving to America and the changes you experienced."
Avalon nodded, already thrust into the world of American Education.
By lunch, Avalon had already gotten into a routine with her classes, thankfully Tommy and Rocky helped her as well as Dudley when they ran into each other.
"Avalon! Over here!"
Avalon turned and saw Rocky waving her over and she went over and sat down on the other side of Tommy.
"Guys, this is Avalon Potter, the new girl." Rocky introduced Avalon to their group of friends.
"Nice to meet you all." Avalon greeted the group before taking a bite of her lunch.
"That is Aisha, that's Adam, and I am Kimberly. It's nice to meet you." A young girl in pink greeted Avalon with a smile, who returned it.
"So, what do you think of Angel Grove so far?" Rocky asked and Avalon shrugged.
"A lot better than my old school. It was one of those...prestigious private schools all the way in Scotland. Not to mention, I did not get out much...my family lived in a....manor. But, after a huge fall out with my parents, I moved in with my godfather, finished my years at the school early and decided to move here where my cousin Dudley is at." Avalon explained and the other kids were surprised.
"A manor? Really?" Kimberly asked and Avalon nodded.
"Yep. But in all honestly, I like it here...I really do. It is a nice little place without having my every move monitored by my younger siblings who always tattled on me for the stupidest things." Avalon groaned as she finished eating.
The school day continued, though in one of her classes, Avalon did have to stand and give a short story as to why she was the new kid. After that, Avalon kept her head down and focused on her work, though Tommy and Rocky helped when they could.
"How about this weekend, we get together to work on the project for English? I was thinking....Romeo and Juliet?" Avalon asked Tommy as they had paired up as partners for an English project.
"Sure. We can meet at the Youth Center on Saturday." Tommy offered as Dudley walked over and she bid Tommy goodbye.
"Youth Center, huh? Come on, I'll show it to you." Dudley offered and the cousins walked off, not knowing that Avalon's life would soon be changing.
