Chapter 18~Death of a Headmaster

Kat and Avalon may not have had the tight friendship that Kimberly and Avalon had, but they were still friends. Avalon helped train Kat to use the pink shogunzord and shark bike as well as meeting Elizabeth Malfoy-Hillard who was nothing like Lucius and Draco and pleasant. 

"I actually knew your father and mother...though there was always something about Lily that rubbed me wrong and it wasn't because she was a muggleborn." Elizabeth had told Avalon one day when she came over to hang with Kat. 

The other thing was who Avalon had chosen to go with her to England with Zordon's permission and it hurt knowing that the one she truly wanted to go with her, wouldn't be able to. 

'He's the leader, but you will see him again.' The voice in her head comforted her after Avalon had yet another panic attack, alone in her room. 

She had also told Dudley and Aunt Petunia who both made her swear that she would come back no matter what or they would hunt her down and bring her back. But, what she was not expecting, was the news she was given when she came home from skating practice and saw Lupin sitting on the couch, with his head in his hands. 

"Dumbledore is dead....he was murdered by Snape when the Death Eaters snuck into the school and took it over." Lupin said and Avalon felt her veins run ice cold. 

Yes, she did not agree with the visions of Dumbledore and thought too many people blindly worshipped him, but even she felt that he did not deserve to die. 

"So...when I am going back?" Avalon asked as she sat down next to Lupin and he sighed. 

"Three days before your birthday, Avalon. I am sorry...." Lupin said as Avalon sighed and looked down at the bracelet, knowing Tommy would feel her emotions right now. 

"I talked with Zordon and he will help us when we need it...also...I have chosen two of my friends to come with me." Avalon told Lupin who nodded and the two shared a hug. 

Later that night, Avalon was sitting on the roof of her house with her patronus by her side, the Snow Leopard's tail just swinging about. 

"What do I do, Saba? Can I truly face No-Nose with this supposed secret power in me?" Avalon asked her patronus as she gazed up and saw a shooting star fly past, it's colors bursting in purples, greens and white, making Avalon smile to herself. 

"I guess that's a sign." Avalon said as she got up and climbed back down to her room and laid on the bed.

The next day, she called everyone to the Command Center to give them the news. 

"Dumbledore, the headmaster of Hogwarts is dead. He was killed by the potions professor, Severus Snape. I am to leave for England three days before my birthday and I have talked it over with Zordon on who will be going with me." Avalon said as she looked at her friends who all shared sad looks. 

"Rocky, my unofficial brother, you were the first choice. My second choice...after much debating, is Kat. You need further training and I can provide that as the pink and purple rangers often help each other in battles." Avalon smiled at Kat who was shocked, but knew the gravity of the situation. 

"I can get my wand from my mother...you won't have to face him or his followers alone." Kat assured her friend. 

"What about me?" Tommy asked and Avalon turned and looked at him, putting her hands on his chest and looked at him in the eyes, bright green and warm brown eyes meeting. 

"You are the leader; you are needed here. I would take you, but it would be very dangerous for us all. We will still have our communicators with us so we can talk all we want." Avalon told 

Tommy who took her hands in his and kissed them both. 

"Lupin has also agreed to allow you guys to see us off before we leave. I will come back...this is not the end of the purple ranger, that is for sure." Avalon said with determination in her voice as the rangers all shared a group hug, Avalon finally letting the tears fall from her eyes.
