Chapter 3~First Encounter

After school was over with, Avalon was walking with Dudley to the Youth Center. "I come here after school every day. Ernie is great...plus, I have started taking up boxing lessons. They have everything here!" Dudley said as he and Avalon walked into the Youth Center when two guys appeared and Dudley groaned. "I'd stay clear of those two. Nothing but trouble, worse than Piers was." Dudley said as he managed to get Avalon away from the annoying two and over to a counter. "Hey, Dudley...come on! Practice is just starting." A kid yelled out and Avalon waved her cousin away and sat down at one of the tables watching all the youth have fun with their little groups and it made her frown. 'It's not like the houses at Hogwarts, that's for sure...but it still feels overwhelming.' Avalon thought as she stood up and walked over to where a group of kids where all skating.

"Hey, you wanna join?" One of the kids asked Avalon who nodded and they skated over, and pulled an extra set of skates. "Here, I can teach you how to move in them. I'm Sacha, this is Cody, and that is Mindy." The kid, Sacha said and Avalon followed suite, laughing as she was trying to gain balance like the other kids, not knowing that Tommy and his friends watched her skate, smiling every time she managed to stay up right. Dudley also noticed and smiled as well, glad that his cousin was taking to this new place easily. 'Remember what Mr. Lupin told us about her....God I wish I could punch my sister for how she acts.' His mothers voice echoed in his head before he went back to practicing skating. Avalon was soon getting the hang of it, though at times she was still a bit wobbly.

"That was great, Avalon! A few more practices and you could start doing competitions with us." Mindy said as they all stopped for break and Tommy walked over. "That was awesome, Avalon." Tommy said and Avalon blushed before frowning as a beeping noise was heard and Tommy and the others took off. "What was that all about?" Avalon asked but the skaters shrugged. "All I know is someone has a crush..." Mindy teases said making Avalon's face go beet red. "Sh...Shut up!" Avalon said as she gathered her things and left the building, heading back to the Dursley residents when she was accosted by weird gray creatures making weird noises. She used her backpack to swing at the creatures when two grabbed her arms and started to drag her off.

"HEY! PUTTIES!" The putties stopped and Avalon looked over to see several figures standing there in weird clothing. They wore white, pink, blue, red, black, and yellow clothing and Avalon could tell that they were fighters of some kind. The putties let go of Avalon who took off running away from the whole thing, not looking back until she was at a safe distance and watched as the colorful figures fought off those ugly gray things when a hand came over her shoulder. "Avalon! Are you okay...whoa! It's the Power Ranger!" Dudley said as he looked at the fighting before looking down at the bruises on her arm. "Come on, let's get home before something really bad happens." Avalon said as the two took off, not knowing that they were being watched. 

"That was close." Dudley panted as they turned the corner and found themselves back on the street where the Dursleys lived. "How was school?" Petunia asked as she stood outside, watering the flowerbeds. "It was good. I think I may have made new friends." Avalon said as she and Dudley went inside and went to the dinning room table to start on homework. "That is good. Dinner will be ready in an hour and your father, Dudley, will be home by then." Aunt Petunia said as she followed the kids in and finished up in the kitchens while Dudley and Avalon started on their homework, Avalon helping Dudley with some of the things he still had a problem with as Remus Lupin came in and sat down, sighing as he did. "No luck?" Aunt Petunia asked and Remus shook his head. "The realtors were all busy, plus, I have a meeting with the American Magical Congress later this week to discuss formal terms about Avalon and myself." Remus explained and Petunia nodded.

After dinner, Avalon sat outside and watched as the evening sky turned dark, a soft smile on her face. She made new friends, has a better relationship with her cousin and aunt....Uncle Vernon wasn't rude to her, just....set in his nonsensical ways. But the incident outside the Youth Center came to Avalon and she frowned. The voiced from those colored people sounded familiar, but also muffled...and what did those things want with her? Avalon looked down at the bruises and knew they would be there for a while before getting up and going back in the house and to the spare bedroom that had been made for her for the time being that she was staying there. As she laid down to sleep after changing into her pj's, she couldn't help the smile appear on her face as Tommy Oliver came into her thoughts again. 

The only other person she ever had a crush on was Cedric Diggory, but he was with Cho Chang, the bitchy Ravenclaw who was also trying to use Harry, not that she cared much anymore. Avalon sighed and went to sleep, hoping to have a normal rest of the week without much incident happening. Though her dreams were restless as she dreamt she was back in England at the cemetery watching as her younger siblings managed to escape and she was left to be tortured by Voldemort and his followers all the while begging for help. Suddenly a burst of purple surrounded Avalon and she was no longer in the cemetery but in the abandoned halls of Angel Grove High. "Soon...Avalon Potter....your time will come." A voice whispered and Avalon jerked awake from the nightmare before groaning and laying back in bed.
