Messy Dress

Burt: Messy Dress is actually one of my favorites. How we came up with it was pretty interesting. 

me: Yeah. It's rewritten from Starring Role by Marina and the Diamonds. Originally, it was A Wonderful Thought, from my Youtube movie "A Freaky Friday". Looking back on it, I think it was a phoned-in song for a movie like that. I don't even think it moved the story forward very well.

Burt: So you reused it another time.

me: Yeah. I turned it into Messy Shirt, which was... basically the plot of the Wiggles series 1 episode where Murray gets his shirt messy. Hence the title. Messy Shirt. 

Burt: Sammy had made a demo for it a couple years ago. She played that cut for me and I did like it, and we agreed to put it on the album.

me: The only problem was we had to switch harmonizers because Burt couldn't sing the high notes.

Burt: *laughs* Right. So we changed the lyrics again so I could be singing to a girl instead of Murray. And now you have Messy Dress.
