"Mani aren't we a little too old for this ?"

"Boy first of all none of us are 'old', second people twice your age does this because it's fun and last its a reptile center. You're just cleaning tanks and caring for dozens of reptiles what are you complaining about  ?" I explained.

"That's because this is your job you always do this. I don't know if me and scaled, cold blooded animals get along. I only deal with dogs and cats"

"Kei you won't get eaten by anything I promise" I groan, trying to convince my brother that he'll have fun working with the animals. He did volunteer to come with me after all. Should've asked more questions.

"Mani why did you wear a turtle neck ? It's summer" Ess wondered, drinking from her cup of tea.

"If you must know, Essence, it's a sleeveless and I like it so I wore it"

"Are you sure ?" She side eyed me.

"Why ? What's that supposed to mean" I squinted my eyes.

"......I know there's hickeys under there. Let me see" She reached over the table in attempt to grab the neck of my shirt but I scooted away to avoid it.

"Uh uh ! This ?" I held up my ID. "Means I can do what I want alright ? Mind yours"

"You went to see Jake last night didn't you ? I knew this would happen y'all are ridiculous just make up already"

"We will when he acts like he has some sense. Until then I'm gonna focus on more important things than a bratty rockstar who thinks I'm his possession "

"You're right about that part" Kei said. "I was sure he'd never date anybody again but then Vic came around"

Vic ? "You know her too ?"

"Yeah of course. After you left we spent a lot of time around Jake. Ma didn't have an issue with it because she knew your friends would keep us safe at all costs so we just kinda took advantage of it. Even now he still kind of takes care of us"

"Yeah he's been paying for my things for school and pays me to watch his place and Vito while he's on tour" Ess added in.

"He did that ?"

"Yep. Honestly they all took care of us. Picked us up from school, dropped us off, came to events, paid for things, took us out"

"HER. She means they did that for HER. They practically spoiled her two times over. I got things but they more so just helped me with sports and jobs and guy stuff. She got all the pampering but they did kind of adopt us"

They damn well had better. I made sure they knew to watch over my siblings while I was gone but they didn't have to spoil them. Now they're gonna want me to spend my money on them too. Ugh ! I hate having friends with money that spoil my siblings.

I want to thank to them for it though. In my head no one can care for my siblings better than me but having people I trust with my life watch them keeps my sanity in check and they understood the assignment. I'm eternally grateful for that and for them.
