Jake took me back to his place of course and waiting for him on the couch was a sleeping Vito. Vito jumped down and came to rub himself against Jake's legs, purring and meowing.
"Hey Buddy" He rubbed Vito's back with a little scratch and pat. Vito meowed and pawed Jake's hand. He then crawled between my legs and came around by my ankle.
"Hi baby" My voice rose to that squeaky voice you use when talking to babies. I squatted to rub his head and back. Jake takes good care of him I see. Trimmed nails, clean paw pads, clean teeth, healthy fur and build. Impressive. He's no more than three years old if I know my domestic cats and he's so cute.
"What's a guy gotta do to get THAT around here ?" Jake scoffed.
"Oh shut up Vandle"
I stood up and went to wash my hands. Once I finished I sat my purse down on his counter and grabbed my dessert from him.
"Hold on" He came up after me to wash his hands also. He then grabbed the bag and my hand and lead me to his balcony. I hadn't realized how decorative it is out here. He has plants, a sofa, cute little lamps and decorative chairs. Just above us is his office but the view is much different when your eyes aren't fuzzy and rolling to the back of your head.
It's beautiful. A cool breeze blew across my arms and legs while I sat down on the sofa. He stepped back inside for a second and then came back with a blanket. He pulled my heels off and sat them aside with his own shoes and sat next to me, covering us with the blanket. I got the memo so I pulled the dessert from the bag and he pulled spoons from who knows where. I opened it with no hesitation and took a bite of the cookie. I wasn't completely focused on anything else but the soft, delicious cookie in my mouth until he wiped something from my lip and sucked it from his thumb.
I covered my mouth, shielding my chuckle of embarrassment. "Thanks"
"Always" He took my braids and pushed them all to my other shoulder. "We can talk when you're ready"
"You know I have a lot of questions right ?"
"I'm aware, ask"
"Wait, we need to set the basis. Let's talk. Completely finish our conversation so that neither of us leave angry at the other. Let's actually solve the problem instead of arguing about it"
"I'd love that" He smiled. "Whatever you want"
"Let's start with how did you get into my place without me knowing ?"
"Fairly easy. I picked your lock, came in, wrote your note, left the flowers and got back out in less than ten minutes"
"You say that like it's casual"
"You asked"
I sighed, remembering my own words. Don't curse at him Mani, hold it together. "Why did you stop responding to me ?"
"I was in a bad spot. Mentally, I just didn't have to strength to keep picking up my phone and worrying about texts. I sat there watching our old videos together but I couldn't bring myself to respond. I forgot, got busy and then suddenly the messages stopped coming in. Why'd you stop ?"
