"You know, it's no use dwelling on it so much. If you really want to get back in the swing then you have to accept that it happened and move on from it first.", Ibiki spoke from beside Tama. She didn't bother to look up at her new company, and he simply chuckled, briefly lifting his gaze to look at Kakashi. The man was engrossed in his novel, not showing too much interest in the conversation.
Tama, on the other hand, was just really annoyed. She had hoped that the Hokage would take the hint and wait a little longer before having them meet, but the man seemed to be in a hurry. It irked her, a lot.
However, she was grateful that it was Kakashi of the Sharingan that he chose. Rather a Totsubeku Jōnin(and former Anbu Black Ops) than some random Chūnin or a regular Jōnin.
Knowing the third Hokage, anything was possible really."I'm afraid that that works for the normal mind. Mine isn't quite what you're used to, Morino-san.", Tama responded, not looking up from her artwork.
Kakashi looked up when she said those words, quickly sizing her up. After a quick analysis he saw that she was rather timid and somewhat detached, but her gaze was calculating and held a certain harshness to it. It wasn't how he remembered her, but times did change, and so did people.
"Well then, that aside, you already know who I am. What's your name again, kid? We never did get to have casual interactions back then.", Kakashi finally said as he folded his arms above his chest.
"Tamakiku, and don't call me kid. I'm not five anymore.", she said, slightly red from embarrassment. She leaned back into her pillow.
There was a snort from Ibiki, but he said nothing.
"It's good to finally know your name, then, Tamakiku-san.", Kakashi said with a curt nod. Tama nodded slightly in response, but said nothing. Instead, she looked at Kakashi with a calculating gaze, obviously not happy with his presence. The man resisted the urge to tell her off for being so openly hostile, instead focusing on her large, red eyes. How strange they looked, almost like those of a cornered animal that was ready to fight. Kakashi quickly averted his gaze at that thought. "I look forward to working with you... Again."
"Quaint. If I'm being honest, I wouldn't mind ceasing to exist just about now.", Tama stated, startling the two men. They narrowed their eyes, this task would prove to be more than they had expected. This child wasn't very welcoming. Not anymore, anyway.
However, Kakashi couldn't say that he didn't sympathise.
"So, is this going to be a sensei-student situation?", she asked as she tilted her head to the side.
Truly, Kakashi had no idea what was supposed to happen between them. All that he knew was that he was supposed to monitor her Sharingan prowess and help her to control it. Otherwise, anything else would be futile. He simply shrugged, not too sure of what to say in response. She was already good enough to be a Chūnin, so he definitely wasn't going to teach her anything.
"Not quite. Take it like a mentorship, you're learning a new skill while continuing with your work.", Ibiki explained. Kakashi remained silent, choosing to keep the peace.
Mentorship? This was Anbu evaluation all over again!
"Except, I won't actually be working, will I?", she asked. Silence was her answer, the men looked at each other. She seethed. Ibiki cleared his throat after a long pause.
"Well, of course not. Not in the field, anyway. You can help me out with paperwork if you'd like, but it'd be very limited considering you need time to recuperate.", he explained.
"That's not quite my idea of fun. I might just pass.", Tama replied, her gaze adopting a mischievous glint. Ibiki noticed this and quickly spoke against it. Tama was a nuisance sometimes, he couldn't have her all over the place in her current state.
