There were five great Shinobi nations, and among all of them, Tama was especially wary of Kumogakure and Kusagakure. When she was only ten years old she was tasked with investigating allegations against the Hyuuga clan in order to clear the clan leader's name, ultimately saving a five year old princess Hinata from certain doom. It would turn out that Kumo was only accusing the Hyuuga clan leader of murdering their comrade because they had failed to obtain what they wanted from his clan. As a result, they wanted to take Hinata as payment, or else they would wage war against Konoha.
Tama was no fool, once she found this out she immediately got to work on a plan to prevent a serious situation. The clan head's brother, Hizashi, offered to take princess Hinata's place and act as a sacrifice. However, that would spell doom for Konoha, seeing as Kumogakure was looking to gain the Byakugan for its power. She voiced this out and made them realise the loophole. As such, in collaboration with the Balck Ops, an ambush was set up.
It was unfortunate that during that operation, Hizashi was badly injured and rendered unconscious for almost a year. When he finally awoke he could no longer speak because an arrow had struck his throat. At least he was alive, right? Of course not. The man almost died because Kumo couldn't have their way with Konoha, and that cost the Hyuuga clan almost everything because his son grew to detest the main family. Seeing princess Hinata and Neji's match in the Chūnin exams was a terribly painful sight, because even though his father was alive, Neji felt that she didn't deserve to live because he almost died for her.
The reason why this memory resurfaced was simple. Tama had been thinking about Akatsuki and their action plan when she remembered that they weren't the only threat. Kumo was a nuisance, at best, and now that there were talks of an alliance forming between Konoha and Suna, Kumo nin had been sighted approaching the Suna frontier. It was a good thing that she had called for Gaara to stay in Konoha, that way he was safe from them. However, Suna wasn't. Thank goodness for the clones that she left behind, otherwise she wouldn't have gotten that report. Tsunade was suggesting that Suna be the ones to deal with it before Konoha could get involved, but that would hinder their pending investigation. So Tama convinced her to send in at least fout Black Ops squads as up. It wouldn't be wise to leave them in the dust.
At current, she, Shisui, and the girls were currently eating after a long day of training, and the male had been questioning her all the while. Over the past three years, he had been at her side and unable to do much on his own. Even though he had a part in killing the clan, she still dared to help him and not once try to kill him. Heck, she even healed him well enough that his Kotoamatsukami had been restored. He lost it during the encounter with Danzō that one time. He was curious now, there was too much that the girl was capable of that she clearly had been cultivating for years. He wanted to know just how he never once noticed anything.
Tama looked at him, the shadow of a smile on her lips as he recounted to her an incident from years ago, when she was seven years old and serving at the Naka shrine under Chiko. There had been an arrangement that she would marry one of the three strongest branch families' sons, Shisui being one of them. At this point, not only was Tama at her most docile, but she also smiled at people for a change. Shusui, having seen this, thought that it would be a good idea to at least talk to her, if only briefly.
"You had just come back from buying incense sticks with Chiko-sama. I thought that I'd come and say hello, but Kaze got to you first. I decided to watch because then I could gauge out how you would react to me if I came over as well.", Shusui said, casting her a sidelong glance. Tama continued eating, listening with much interest. She hadn't been in a good mood that day, he was wise not to end up approaching her.
"I didn't expect you to punch him in the face. I didn't think you could even pack a punch like that. Whatever he said must've offended you, didn't it?", he said. At this, Akira and Karin perked up, suddenly interested.
