"I never wanted to be your enemy.", Itachi said, breathing heavily as he waited for Tama's next move. She was of the mind to kill him then burn his body, but she knew that she couldn't. Sure enough, he'd probably kill her instead.

Either way, she didn't hate him. No, she loved him like any sister would love her brother, but she was heartbroken. Even after all that time, she hadn't gotten over the massacre. She never would.

She could grasp why her father had to die. To be honest, she had thought of killing him as well(she just didn't think she would manage to). All those other people, however...
There were little children who died, children who didn't know what was happening. She could never forgive that.

And her mother...

"I didn't know about coup d'etat, Itachi-san. I only found out afterwards.", she began, also breathing heavily from the fight they had just fought. Itachi paused, startled by both the revelation and the way she addressed him. For all his life, he was her precious brother, Tachi-kun...

"How did you find out?", he asked, somewhat rigid. If there was a spy out there that knew about—

"Shisui-san told me.", Tama said, a small frown playing along her features. There was a long pause. Itachi was confused, then baffled, and then speechless. The thought suddenly crossed his mind that he almost killed her as well on that night. She didn't know, meaning that she wasn't a part of the plot. He almost killed his innocent sister.

"I had a clone retrieve his body and found that he was still alive. Instead of handing him in, I took him somewhere safe so could recouver. He would be unsafe in Konoha. At the moment, that is. He is in my care, at the moment.", Tama said as she sat down and crossed her legs.

"I believe you took his eyes?", she asked, her conflicted gaze locked on the ground before her. She rarely engaged in combat, it wasn't how she operated. This time (and on the night of the massacre) was an exception.

Itachi couldn't speak. The image of Shusui jumping off that cliff flashed in his mind. The thought of Tama's dead body...

"I don’t—"

"No. Please, it's alright. I have to go now. If our paths should cross again, maybe you'll get to see him again. As of now, however, I'll be taking those eyes for him.", Tama said, cutting the male short of his sentence.

Itachi found himself reaching into his cloak, and bringing out a small jar. He hesitantly walked over to the girl, and gave it to her. The thought of seeing Shisui alive again gnawed at his mind, it was worth the risk. Tama took jar and dipped her head in thanks.

"You won't regret it. I'll be sure to honour you in the future.", she said, softly. She brought a hand to his face, index and middle finger pointed, and pressed lightly against his forehead. She swiped downwards, up, then sidewayy, causing him to instinctively turn his head as well.

"Until next time.", she whispered, but she was already gone. Her voice echoed in the back of his mind like a distant thought. Put off, he looked around, suddenly wondering just when he had gotten to where he was.

Slightly out of his wit, he slowly began to walk back to the border. The Tama he had just faced was surely the real one. So why did Itachi get the feeling that it wasn't?
Also, what jutsu did she use on him just then? It wasn't a genjutsu, so what could it have been?

His mind was in turmoil, and upon his arrival at the base, it only became worse. He arrived to the sight of a livid Leader, and wasn't willing to talk. The only words that would escape his lips in that moment would be nothing short of insulting.

He would only report his fight if he was asked.

"Everyone, the base has been breached.", Konan said serously, as she stood beside Pain, the leader.
