Half an hour earlier...~.... Brrrring~... Brrrring~
"Hello, You've reached the assistant of Jinpachi Ego. This is Anri speaking, how may I help you?"
The feminine voice rang through the monitoring room where the woman and her boss sat. The two of them were faced with a large screen, showcasing a soccer field accompanied by ten players, all teenagers. She observed the large monitor as she held the phone to her ear, eyes never leaving. This was the first match of the tryouts, Team A against Team B. The match had yet to start, but drama was still on the rise even before the ball even touched the ground.
Though, should she really be surprised? Having a bunch of guys locked up with each other for weeks on end, of course they would jump on the chance to hit on a girl their age the first chance they got. It was an expected outcome, but still pretty funny regardless. The woman let out a soft snort, hearing the bickering of the teenage boys over the screen, feeling both pity and amusement for your situation.
On the other hand, her boss Ego seemed much less amused and much more annoyed. A frown was set on his face and he tapped his foot impatiently, though she supposed a frown was almost always on his face regardless. The only time he ever did smile, was probably with malicious intent.
After a brief pause, the voice on the other end of the phone responded.
"Oh! Anri, I remember you from the conference." The sly voice of a man responded, reminding her of a greedy salesman trying to convince her to buy a broken vacuum cleaner. "Yes, yes. It's me, Buratsuta, the president of the JFU. May I talk to Ego directly? This is an important matter regarding football, something I'm sure Ego would better understand."
Anri's expression morphed into one of disgust. She hated that money grubbing, balding, out of shape bastard. And don't think she didn't notice his little jab towards her and her knowledge on football, what an ass.
"Ah yes, of course. Right away." Anri replied, putting up her best fake enthusiast voice to disguise her disgust. Quickly she jabbed the phone over to Ego, a frown etching itself on her face. "It's for you."
The man gave a curious gaze to her expression, but ignored it and held the phone up to his ear. "What do you want?"
"Ah! Ego, my friend! It's good to talk to you!"
Oh... now he knew why Anri looked so displeased. "Shut up and spit it out."
Alright, alright." The man on the other end said, trying to ease the tension. "It's about the U-20 against Blue Lock match up. As you know, Sae Itoshi will be part of our starting lineup for the U-20 team. However, upon seeing the team he found the forwards to be a bit... lackluster haha! Anyways, the kid said that he wouldn't play for our team unless he could add one person from Blue Lock to the U-20 roster to play alongside him."
"That's not my problem." Ego responded bluntly.
"Oh but it is!" Buratsuta said way too enthusiastically. "You see, Sae Itoshi is the main driving factor for the promotion of this game. If he doesn't play, I'm afraid the whole thing will have to be canceled, and along with that will be Blue Lock as a whole."
"... Well played, Buratsuta." Ego said reluctantly. Although he didn't care much for the money, he didn't want the match to play out so he could continue Blue Lock and show off his players. So, he was walking to go along with the demands of the JFC. "Well let Sae Itoshi choose a player from Blue Lock to go over and play with the U-20 team."
"Oh, that's just splendid because I already sent Sae over there to watch some matches and scope out who he wants to play with!"
What a dickhead.
