Dani

Four months passed since I first met Dakota, we weren't exactly friends yet but Zak was trying his hardest to change that, I was expecting to meet him for dinner while Aaron agreed to watch Oliver for a few hours. I finally arrived at the restaurant and didn't see him anywhere so I waited for him but was surprised to see Dakota instead.

Dani: hey, is Zak here with you?

Dakota: no he told me that he would meet me here and I've been waiting for twenty minutes now, have you seen him?

Dani: he also told me that he would meet me here but I see what he is up to now, I apologize if he ruined any other plans you had.

Dakota: I didn't have anything planned really, I was just going to play a video game before I went to bed.

Dani: well I understand if you want to leave cause I might go...

Dakota: I mean we could leave but we're already here so, do you want to eat dinner with me?

Dani: sure but if he asks you later, it wasn't a date.

Dakota: definitely not a date, just two people having dinner.

I sat down at the table across from him and we talked while we waited for our food, after dinner we walked around a nearby park and got to know each other for the next several hours and as I began opening up to him a little, I thought of Alex again and I got quiet.

Dakota: is everything okay Dani?

Dani: yeah, I just realized this is where I first met Alex

Dakota: is Alex the father of Oliver?

Dani: yeah...

Dakota: what was he like?

Dani: he was thoughtful and put others first which is why I fell in love with him. I think you and him would have been good friends, you remind me of him a little.

Dakota: is that so...?

Dani: yeah, he was quiet until we got to know each other and we become inseparable afterwards, he was Zak's friend. I met him while I was still in college, he helped my brother and the others with the investigations. I know they miss him in their own little way but it's like he never existed to them because whenever I try talking about him I get told that I should let him go, but how do you just forget about someone who left an important impact on your life?

Dakota: I know that you must miss him alot considering you have a child together...

Dani: I do miss him, so much...

I looked down at my feet and quietly sobbed but I think Dakota knew because I felt him pull me towards him and held me while I cried.

Dani: I'm sorry, you must think I'm a cry baby...

Dakota: I don't think that, it's okay to cry over someone you love. Do you want me to take you home?

Dani: only if you're ready to go...

Dakota: we can talk some more if it's okay with you not unless you want to go home to your son.

Dani: Aaron is watching him, I'm sure they are having fun.

We continued talking and getting to know each other before we decided to call it a night.
