Pants

A pair of pants hang in my closet
They hang alone in the darkest corner
It's just a silly pair of pants
A silly pair of pants that I can't bring myself to wear again
But today I put on the pair of pants
Because it was just a pair of pants
But as the cotton hits my bare legs
I'm brought back to that blissful night
The feeling of your fingertips running across the same well worn cotton
The smell of you lacing every stitch
No matter how many times I wash them
I feel smothered
Smothered with memories of that night
The cheeky laughs and soft kisses
Me and you alone
Only the sound of our erratic pounding hearts filling the air
The air that is now cold
As I'm standing alone in my room
Wearing the stupid... silly... pair of pants
The pants that once held a hopeful delusional girl
Now hold a lost and broken girl
I yank off the pants
Pulling myself out of the cloth laced delusion
Back to the reality that you aren't in
