A poet in love

It's always to be loved by a poet
And never to be the poet in love
The poet who writes their heart out
On blank pages
The pen like a wand
With the power to move another
To be a poet in love
Is to be a person in hiding
The tiny similes and metaphors
Covered in ink
Are like a cry to be heard
To be heard by the person who possesses one's mind
To the reader it's content
To the poet it's freedom
A freedom that comes with restraint
Because despite how much I want you to read my poems
I know that you would never be able to read my words the way I write them
Not even a mere stranger can read them the same
Poetry is such a beautiful yet terrible thing
Because a person wants to be loved by a poet
But how can you be loved by a poet
If you can't even read between the lines
No one ever truly understands the love of a poet
Because a poet only knows what they write
