Stele: "What the fuck do you mean all the metal on me?"
Glynda: "That's right Stele. This is meant to be fair. Any metal you have is a weapon for you. And mind your language."
Before we were to go to the island, we had to see the random teacher responsible for us. Of course Glynda was the one I was assigned to. Random my ass.
Stele: "Language is the last thing on my mind at the moment! You aren't the one that has to give up their arm!"
I knew I had to give up the Forge but I didn't think they would want my cuff and even my mask.
Glynda: "Look Stele, I can understand how you feel. It's just that any metal you have would be unfair to the others."
Stele: "But it's my arm and my mask that doesn't make me just lose it on others!"
She was rubbing the the bridge of her nose while looking at the papers on her desk.
Glynda: "Like I said, I understand how you feel, but it isn't up to me. Besides, it's supposed to be a survival scenario. You won't always have all your equipment, which this is supposed to show how you would fare."
Stele: "If it isn't up to you then-"
Before I could finish, an announcement came over the PA system from Ozpin.
Ozpin: "Attention students. For those of you participating in this week long Island event, please make your way to the bullhead outside."
Glynda: "Your decision Stele? Will you hand over your mask and cuff arm for now? Remember, this is an optional event, but I feel like you should go. It would do you good being out with everything you've been through lately."
Fuck. Of course I was going on this trip. A week long event on an island? Why wouldn't I be going. I just didn't think that they considered my mask and cuff arm as part of my weapons.
Stele: "Yeah yeah. Take the damn things."
I took them off and tossed them onto the desk for her. As she took them, she placed a small circle with a flashing red light, onto them.
Glynda: "I'm glad that you have decided to go. Thee trackers are so that no equipment is lost. Maybe you'll find them on the island, and if not you'll get it all back at the end of it. And here, in exchange of your mask."
She took out a mask from her desk and slid it over it me. I just looked at it. It was made of cloth and wouldn't do much for me.
Stele: "Yeah, that's not going to do much for me. My mask was thick and made of metal so It would weaken what I smell a bit. This cloth, it's not going to do much."
Then I thought of something.
Stele: "Say... This is a survival situation right? As In, we are on our own?"
She looked at me quizzically. I don't know if she knew what I was getting at with this.
Glynda: "Yeah... Why do you ask exactly? Wait come back!"
I was already at the door leaving.
Stele: "Sorry Glynda. You heard that announcement, gotta make my way before its too late. See ya!"
With that I made my way down the hall and towards the exit. It felt weird, bad even, not having metal on me. But it would be worth it when on the island. Worse was stepping outside and seeing all the bullheads, all the metal, with students filing into them. Luckily there were too many people to pick up just one scent without focusing. I passed by several other bullhead before reaching the one I was assigned to. There were already a few others waiting.
