Jenny wasn't sure how she kept finding herself in these situations.
After stopping off at Dustin's house so he could give her his spare walkie-talkie, he had talked nonstop about the girl on their way over to the Wheeler's, and yet even as they approached Mike's house, she was doubting her existence.
"I'm telling you, Jenny. She's so cool. You're gonna love her. She's straight out of your DC comics!" He had a massive smile on his face, that Jenny couldn't help but return as they got off of Dustin's bike.
He leant it up next to Mike and Lucas', and grabbed her hand, pulling her straight into the house without knocking and leaving her hardly any chance to politely greet Mrs. Wheeler.
Dustin threw open the basement door, thundering down the stars while Jenny frantically shook off his grip so she could shut the door behind them and not go face-first into the wooden steps.
When she finally reached the bottom, she gasped in awe. Sitting on the couch across from her was a young child, barely the boys' age and wearing a terrified look.
"Dustin! You can't just do that! You're gonna scare El!" Mike complained.
"She's real?" Jenny practically whispered as she continued to stare at the mystery girl. She wac completely confounded. How the hell had four young boys managed to keep another human alive?
"Of course she is! Why would you still doubt me?"
Jenny ignored her cousin and slowly approach the couch, but before she got too close, she sat down on the floor to make herself look less threatening, making sure this timid 'El' could see her hands.
"Hello," Jenny said softly. The scared girl's expression softened a bit.
"H-Hi."
"I'm Jenny. I'm Dustin's family," She told her.
El looked to Mike who nodded before she looked back and did the same to Jenny.
"Eleven," She said, pointing to herself.
"It's lovely to meet you, Eleven."
"Yes," El replied, giving Jenny a small smile.
Jenny sat and listened to Mike explain Mr Clarke's example to El. Dustin had started pacing shortly after they arrived and hadn't stopped since. In the midst of it all Lucas and Dustin had actually explained how they found her and why she was in Mike's basement, so Jenny was now all caught up in the madness. She had decided to accept the fact that perhaps Will and Barb really had been dragged into Eleven's realm. Which only made her wonder... If El existed, then the monster did too, so maybe that thing her mother and her saw wasn't a trick of the eyes. She cursed herself for telling her mother to swerve.
Hopefully she never had to encounter it again.
Though, knowing her luck recently, she couldn't hold her breath.
"Hey I'm just gonna get a glass of water, you guys'll be fine, right?" Jenny asked after awhile.
"Duh," Lucas shook his head at her in a mocking way.
"Alright didn't have to be a little shit about it," She said as she stood, shaking her head dissaprovingly with every step up.
Mrs Wheeler greeted her as she stepped from the doorway into the light, "Did you need something dear?"
"A glass of water would be lovely, thanks."
"Of course," She said going to get the glass. "I think it's so lovely how Dustin can trust you in a time like this."
"Hm? Oh, yeah," For a second she forgot what 'time' they were supposed to be in.
"I wish my kids wanted to be around each other," Karen said with a laugh as she handed Jenny the water.
