Jaemin walked into the hall with Ara's arm linked in his. He wore a tux he had bought for one of the events back in the beginning of the college. Not like he could afford much more, since he used a lot of money for Ara's dress rent.
He glanced down at her nervous figure.
Jaemin: Calm down. No one's going to harm you.
Ara: I should be saying that to you.
He just chuckled and caught sight of Jeno who was greeting his guests.
Jaemin: Jeno!
The male turned and smiled at the sight of Jaemin. He approached the two.
Jeno: Jaemin! I'm glad you came.
Jaemin: Can i consider myself forgiven?
Jeno: Sure man.
He then turned to the female who was looking around in awe, currently being in her first ever wedding.
Jeno: Ara, I'm glad to see you.
She turned to Jeno and smiled.
Ara: Hi Jeno. Congratulations on the wedding.
Jeno: Thank you. Your seats have your name plates.
He said pointing to a table pretty close to the stage.
Jeno: Enjoy.
Before he could walk off Jaemin held onto his elbow.
Jaemin: Can I... talk to you?
Jeno: Sure? What's up?
Jaemin turned to Ara who looked confused.
Jaemin: Do you mind going to sit?
Ara: Okay...?
She let go of his arm and walked to the table. He then turned to Jeno while forcing a smirk.
Jaemin: How terrible is your patience?
Jeno: What game is this?
He said with a chuckle.
Jaemin: I left your gift at the gift table but... here.
He handed Jeno an envelope.
Jaemin: Let's see how well you can keep your patience in check. You'll get a call from me tomorrow. Only then will you open this. Deal?
Jeno: Tsk... what game are you playing?
Jaemin: Ah... you're scared. Its okay. I'll take it back-
Jeno: Yah. I'll keep it. It better be worth it.
Jaemin chuckled.
Jaemin: It will be...
---
The two reached home with a heavy heart. Ara felt like with every second passing, she was passing too.
Jaemin: We look too good.
Ara: Hm?
He let go off her hand and put some music before approaching her with an extended hand.
Jaemin: May I have this dance, your highness?
Ara chuckled, not expecting him to to bring up a stupid joke but she placed her hands on his. The two playfully danced around his living room, smiling to themselves and laughing at every small mistake.
Soon the playlist hit a really slow and heart felt song.
Ara's arms were around Jaemin's neck, his head resting on her's with their eyes closed. Jaemin's arms were on her waist, as they swayed to the music.
Jaemin: you're a pretty good dancer.
Ara: In one of your lives... i don't really remember which but you were an idol or singer. And you really liked slow dancing. So you taught me. Like today, we were dancing right before you died because the stage fell apart at your concert.
He was silent for a moment.
Jaemin: You saw me die seven times... and this will be the eighth...
Another moment of silence.
Ara: It hurt every time. But before i knew you would come back. Now...
Jaemin: Its-
His phone rang, the music pausing and he walked over to pick it up.
Jaemin: yes?... yeah. Okay... I'll be right over.
He cut the call and faced her.
Jaemin: They need me... at the hospital.
She gave him a pursed smile and nodded. She changed back into her clothes that she was wearing earlier while he came out in his resident clothes.
As he grabbed his stuff she found himself asking her something.
Ara: Can i come with?
He paused by the door and looked at her. After a moment, his lips broke into a smile and he offered her his hand which she immediately took, their fingers lacing.
---
Ara waited patiently and sighed when he walked out of the operation room and greeted his seniors goodbye before walking out and entering the waiting area. He smiled at her on eye contact and head to her as she stood up.
Except the next second screams filled the room, gun shots echoed and Jaemin was frozen, eyes wide.
Ara: Jaem...
She whispered, stunned as she stumbled forward. The first few drops of blood hit the white floor and the next second his entire body fell down; except Ara leaped forward and caught him before he could hit his head.
Ara: Jaemin? Look at me. I... I-I'll get a doctor.
But his head was trembling while he forced himself to look at her, his equally trembling hand holding her's to stop her.
Ara: Jaemin.
She felt her tears fall and his own eyes were tearing up as well. His breaths were raspy and even though Ara held onto his chest wound to cease the bleeding, she could feel what she should have felt months ago when he first got shot.
Ara: Jaemin... please.
His shaking hand was reaching her face but it went limp, his eyes stilled, she didn't hear anymore raspy breaths. His entire body relaxed and she let out a loud cry, with police sirens in the back and the silent crowd staring at Ara who squalled while cradling Jaemin's lifeless body.
