When it happened the first time in front of him, Jaemin was convinced that he needed an ambulance too, even though he didn't have a human heart. He willed himself to be not seen by other humans, except Ara, hence a hospital wouldn't work anyway.
So when he was keeping watch on her and he saw the attack hitting her, it crushed him.
She was kneeling by her bed, a hand on her chest. Tears brimmed her eyes and he saw her reaching for her purse desperately. When she was clearly struggling he decided to appear and help her.
Though his arrival had her only more shocked.
He wasted no time in bringing her bag to her and she quickly fished out her pills, not questioning his presence anymore. He could almost feel her pain but he didn't want to sound insensitive to her.
She gulped down two pills with water before relaxing by completely sitting down on the floor and taking deep breaths.
Ara: Thanks...
Jaemin: No problem. What was that?
Ara: It was just a minor attack. The major ones has me on the hospital bed within an hour.
Jaemin: How come you don't have helpers?
She chuckled half heartedly and looked at him.
Ara: You're there now. That should be enough.
Jaemin: And if i wasn't?
She pursed her lips and didn't answer for a moment.
Ara: You were here, and you helped me. I couldn't be more grateful. Anyway... I have two weeks huh? Will you be staying with me then?
Jaemin: You want me to stay in your house with you?
Ara: Hell no. I mean yeah you look good and you did help me, but you're a total stranger. I don't want you in my house all the time.
Jaemin just stared at her. They weren't strangers. But it only made him think about Ara as Death. Would she have also thought the same every single time she came to protect him before he died?
Jaemin: You still don't believe me completely do you?
Ara: I mean... you do have magic... but now that I have thought about it during a sleepless night, its just a bit far fetched.
Jaemin: I expected that.
He stood up and held his hand out for her. She looked at it with contemplation.
Jaemin: I won't hurt you. I'm meant to protect you till you die.
Ara: Okay...
Reluctantly she placed her hand on his and Jaemin felt a spark run through his entire body before he pulled her up to her feet. He glanced down at her before handing her a card.
Jaemin: Be ready at seven in the morning tomorrow. I'll pick you up.
Ara: To where?
He just smiled before flicking his fingers and he vanished.
---
Jaemin: You actually helped me.
Jaehyun: I did not.
Jaemin: You told me she had two weeks left to her.
Taeyong: Wow, okay, don't give him credits for what I did.
Jaehyun: You did that after I told you to do it.
Taeyong: I still delivered it and I gave Jaemin this appointment with you.
Jaehyun: Exactly why I need to search for a new love god.
Taeyong: Oh you know you can't do that, darling. No one is be better than me.
Jaemin cleared his throat and the two deities looked his way.
Jaehyun: What?
Jaemin: Why are you two fighting like a married couple?
Taeyong: I wouldn't marry this man even if it meant for me to lose my magic.
Jaehyun scoffed with a chuckle.
Jaehyun: You think I want to marry you?
Jaemin: Oh my god...
As they continued to argue, Jaemin just plopped down on the seat in front of Jaehyun's desk and sighed loudly. The two finally stopped and Jaehyun glanced back at the Death.
Jaehyun: I know what you are doing.
Jaemin: What do you mean?
Jaehyun: You're doing the same thing Ara did for you.
Jaemin: Yeah well... I need to finish the mission, don't I? Or do you have more tricks up your sleeve to make this harder?
Taeyong: Jaemin...
He warned but the male didn't back down from Jaehyun's glare.
Jaehyun: Don't test me Jaemin. I'm the one who is giving you one last chance. And you better not fuck it up cause the other deities are getting suspicious about it. There won't be another chance.
Jaemin sighed in defeat and leaned back in the chair knowing that the God was right.
Jaehyun: I'm always right.
Jaemin: Oh stop reading my thoughts!

I actually had written the end of this story in two chapters but i deleted everything when it seemed too fast paced. So now I'm rewriting and maybe it will have more than just two more chapters .
