The Sting of a Bug

A/N I know, I know. I have taken far too long. But to make up for it, I shall hit you with a barrage of updates in one single day. Well actually tomorrow.

"Prepare yourself, Viola, for I, James, shall destroy your Pokémon team!"

James had woken up before the rest of the gang, excited for his first Gym Battle. He would make his debut an epic one. He only had one Pokémon, but he would not let that slow his progress. He would beat the Gym with a single Pokémon, his main pal, Fennekin. Although he wasn't sure if calling a female "pal" was right. He'll get to that later.

"Alright, Fennekin, I think we've done enough training for today," James told Fennekin. "Let's get some rest in before the match. Return!"

James walked over from the training area to Nurse Joy and gave her the poké ball so that she could rest Fennekin up. He then proceeded to sneak into the room him and his brother were sharing so that he wouldn't wake his brother up. He decided he would have take a nap before the battle, right after showering of course.

"JAMES, WAKE UP!"

James then felt a pillow hit him in the face with the force of a Tauros. He jumped, and fell from his bed.

"Darn it, Rex!" he screamed at his brother as he got up from the floor.

He then noticed Rex was fully dressed.

He then looked over at the clock.

He then noticed he was a tad bit late.

And by late I mean about two hours.

James had told Viola they would battle at 10:00am so that she could wait for him before anyone else, and it was already 12:03pm.

"WHY DIDN'T YOU WAKE ME EARLIER?!"

"BECAUSE OF MYSTERIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES! NOW GET DRESSED, DOOFUS!"

Ten minutes later, they were all running towards the Gym, and they saw Ronnie with Noibat in his head already waiting for them.

"Where have you people been!" he asked. "I have been waiting for over 2 hours! Well, more like 3 minutes. I already know why you're late."

"So you all went SOMEWHERE or did SOMETHING, and made me be this late?"

"Yup," they all said and began walking into the gym, leaving a dumbfounded James.

"Hey dude," Rex called over to James. "You only have one Pokémon. Are you sure you want to do this so soon?"

"Listen here, bro," James began. "The only reason you had such a hard time was because you are nowhere near as awesome as me. And because you didn't have such a kick butt fire Pokémon such as Fennekin."

"Psh, whatever. Good luck, bro."

They all walked to the bleachers to sit down, while James walked onto the battle field.

"ABOUT TIME YOU GOT HERE!" a voice screamed through the speakers. "I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR OVER TWO HOURS! SO UNPUNCTUALITY!... OK I'VE ONLY BEEN WAITING FOR ABOUT FIVE MINUTES."

Everyone except James started trying to hide they're laughter.

"WHAT!" James exploded. "YOU ALL DID WHATEVER WITHOUT ME?!?!?!"

"Anyways," Viola said as she walked onto the battle field herself. "We gonna do this, or what?"

"Yeah, yeah, whatever."

The referee walked to his place and began speaking. "Since the challenger only has one Pokémon, this will be a one on one battle."

"Wow, wow, wow," James said a little surprised. "I said I would take this Gym on with a single Pokémon, and that means both of Viola's Pokémon, so don't underestimate me by thinking I can't handle the both them."
