"You rude little-"

"James!" Beverly cut James off before he continued with his comment. "If your brother heard you, he would've punched you!"

"Whatever," he muttered.

"How childish," Timothy said looking away to the battle field while James glared at him.

"Fletchling, return!" Rex returned his new Pokémon. "You did well. Now rest. Let's go, Froakie!"

Rex released his starter. "It's all up to you, buddy! Surskit won't hold up much longer."

"Froakie!" he nodded, looking ready for a fight.

"Alright, use Pound!"

Froakie sped forward, and hit Surskit on his head.

"Surskit!" Viola exclaimed worriedly.

"Finish it, Froakie! Bubble!"

Froakie sent a barrage of bubbles at Surskit, and Surskit, already pretty beat up, couldn't dodge and was hit directly.

"Surskit!" he screamed in pain. He tried to get up, but collapsed.

"This round goes to Froakie!"

"All right!" Rex's friends cheered.

"Show'em how it's done, bro!" James yelled at his brother.

"I'm telling you, it's hopeless," Timothy said as a matter of factly. "Judging by how he battles, I'd say he's only been in, what? Two battles? And he's already down to his last Pokémon, who has already wasted some energy, whereas Viola's last Pokémon is in perfect condition, and with much more experience. You're noob of a friend doesn't stand a chance."

They all just looked at him, surprised by his greater knowledge. It was like an old, wise man stuck in the body of a young man.

"What a jerk," Ronnie muttered so that Timothy wouldn't hear him.

"Tell me about it," James muttered back.

Timothy just kept looking at the battle field, showing no signs of whether he heard or not.

"Then again," he kept saying. "I believe in overcoming impossible odds, on rare occasions, but who knows. He only has a 11% chance of winning."

"Alright!" Viola said. "Let's go, Vivillon!"

She threw a pokéball at the field, and out came a beautiful butterfly Pokémon.

"Wow..." Rex said, then shook his head. "No time to be distracted! Use bubble!"

Froakie shot his bubbles.

"Dodge it, Vivillon!"

Vivillon elegantly flew to one side, dodging Froakie's attack.

"Use Psychic! Smash him against the wall!"

Vivillon's eyes glowed blue, and then Froakie started floating.

"Froakie?" he asked, very confused by his predicament. He then flew and smashed against the wall.

"Froakie!" Rex screamed in worry. "Are you okay, buddy?"

Froakie was struggling to stand, but managed to do it.

"Froakie!" he nodded confidently.

"Use Solar Beam!" Viola yelled.

"Viviii," Vivillon said as it began absorbing sunlight.

"Rex, watch out!" Beverly screamed at Rex. "Solar Beam deals a whole lot of damage, specially to water types!"
