I woke up to loud beeps next to me, and an oh so familiar weight on my body. Before even opening my eyes I could smell that wherever I was Enzo was there.

I slowly opened my eyes, and looked around the dimly lit room. On my right side I could see a machine, probably monitoring my vitals and then I slowly turned my head and saw that Enzo was sitting in a chair on my left but his arms and head were resting against my legs.

I turned my head towards the window to see that the sun was rising. I flinched when unconsciously I moved and I let out a shriek of pain, the pain coming from my abdomen.

"Maggie?" Enzo woke up in a startle, he looked around and soon his eyes fell on me. The look on his face, the bags under his eyes told me that he had had very little to no sleep.

"My love." he said, tears welling up in his eyes, he wanted to hug me and I wanted it too, but he looked down at my abdomen and decided against it. leaning in and putting his lips on mine. The feeling of his lips already making me feel better.

"Enzo." was all I managed to say, my throat feeling dry. He seemed to understand and went to open a bottle of water and pour its content into a cup, giving it to me.

I felt better when I felt the water go down my throat. As soon as I had finished drinking I let out a satisfied sigh.

"My love how are you feeling?" he asked, sitting beside me taking my hand in his.

"Sore to be honest." I told him, flinching a bit as I had tried to change the position I was in. I looked down at my stomach and saw that I was in a sports bra with bandages covering the whole rest of the upper part of my body. From the end of the sports bra to my waist.

"I am going to get the nurse, okay? I will be right back." he said. He looked pale as hell, with bags under his eyes, he left and I just leaned back on the bed, closing my eyes again.

I replayed every part of the night in my head. The guy, the phone call, the gun, pulling the trigger, the knife, the pool of blood.

Blood, so much blood.

I opened my eyes and looked at my hands, my hands who now had blood on them. My innocence had been long gone but still I felt like another part of me had died, disappeared, I felt everything and nothing at the same time.

I didn't want to become a shell of a woman, but how could I not? I had killed someone, someone's son, husband maybe even a father.

But it was either him or me.

Enzo took me out of my reverie when he entered the room again, followed by a nurse who looked really nice and had a gentle smile on her face.

"How are you feeling Miss Johnson?" she asked me, I looked over at her, her smile contagious and gave her a small smile.

"Well I am quite tired, and it hurts like hell whenever I make a move." I tell her, I could see Enzo still standing straight at the foot of the bed, looking at everything the nurse was doing. His hands in his pockets, the sleeves of his shirt rolled up to his elbows, displaying all his tattoos.
