Chapter 16: Sports Festival, Part 2

Izuku's POV
YES!! I honestly didn't expect to win the first round, especially without my weapons. I mean, I am an agile and highly experienced vigilante, but seriously, I'm competing with students who are training to be heroes and they have Quirks! I wait as the other competitors come shortly after me, Todoroki-kun in close second and Bakugo in very close third.

Once all the students finished, Midnight-sensei revealed that the next round is a cavalry battle. And I have a 10-million point target on my head. Just awesome. Great way to punish the winner, UA. Who should I team up with? I don't think anyone'll want to team with me...

"Izu! Let's team together!" I look up to see Toshi and Uraraka-san coming towards me.

"Thanks. Who else should we team with? Iida-kun's out, Todoroki-kun has him." I say, looking around and figuring out who's in whose group. My eyes fall on a raven-head boy who luckily seems to be alone. "Bingo."

3rd person POV
Izuku, Ochaco, Hitoshi and Fumikage were prepped in a "horse" stance, with Izuku riding at the top. He tied his 10 million+ point headband on his head, escrima sticks in hand— the only thing he managed to get approved. And no, he wasn't allowed to use the electronic feature, much to his dismay.

"Three!! Two!! One!! START!!!" The battleground delved into chaos.

"This is really a fight for the ten million, and everyone knows it!!" Tetsutetsu yelled as his group charged. Many others followed suit, aiming for the one pass that would ensure victory.

"Well, you'll have to actually FIGHT to get it!" Izuku yells, as he does a spinning kick to faze Tetsutetsu, and his group took the opportunity to avoid the brunt of the groups. Izuku gets to work, parrying frontal attacks and charges while Fumikage covers their blind spots. Meanwhile, Ochaco's in charge of mobility and Hitoshi's in charge of stealing random headbands just in case.

(I'm sorry, this'll be a very very brief summary coz all this is in the manga. Reread Volume 4 if you need to.)

After seven minutes of play, Class A isn't doing too well, with Izuku's team at first place, Neito's team at second, Tetsutetsu's team at third, Itsuka's team at fourth, Shouto's team at fifth, Hiryu's team at sixth, and every other team (including Katsuki's) at zero points.

Katsuki plunged to zero points as Neito snatched his headband while making an enemy out of him, revealing that Class B had a solid plan from the start. Katsuki is pissed and tries to attack Neito, finds out his Quirk in the process, and after a while, manages to get his headband plus more from Neito, propelling Katsuki's team into second place.

(Summary over! That was basically just canon so...)

Izuku's POV
"Midoriya. We're... coming for you." I whip my head around, it's Todoroki-kun. "I'd like to see you try." I counter, and our teams face off. Kaminari-kun shocks the people around us, Tokoyami-kun just barely managed to block the electricity with Dark Shadow. Then, Todoroki-kun freezes the ground around us, freezing some other teams and creating a mini ring just for our two teams.

Okay, that was... Slightly disappointing. I seriously thought the top recommendation student with two Quirks would be a tiny bit more of a challenge. I mean, we're in this tiny confined space controlled by Todoroki-kun's ice, and our whole team has been dodging for who knows how long. And there's only a minute left.

But maybe they have potential, because they were discussing a plan and currently Iida-kun is barreling towards me at an insane speed. Wow. I barely react in time, pushing Uraraka-san's hand towards my arm as her Quirk kicks in, floating me. The movement allows me to evade Todoroki-kun who is trying to grab my headband, and his team screeches to a halt.

"WHOA! IS LEAVING YOUR TEAM REALLY ALLOWED?!" I hear Pops yelling into the mic.

"It is, on a technicality! As long as your feet don't touch the ground, anything goes!" Midnight chirps. Phew, I thought I was in danger for a second there. Wait... then Uraraka-san could've just floated me for the entirety of the event... Sigh, whatever. I drop to the ground, balancing on my hands. Midnight just said my feet couldn't touch the ground. Nothing about my hands. I stay like that for the rest of the match, chilling and occasionally kicking anyone who came near. Of course Todoroki-kun wanted to try again, but I flipped onto him, using my legs to lock him into a hold, ignoring the freezing ice that was (pretty futilely) crawling up my body, shattering it as I gripped on tighter.

"Todoroki-kun... Use your fire. Don't you think it's rude to hold back your Quirk when I, personally, would die for it?" I hiss into his ear. The bold statement (and maybe some bloodlust that 'accidentally' leaked out) shocks him, and his fire sparks up from my provocation. Quickly being extinguished when he realises and grits his teeth. "Midoriya..." He seems to spit out.

"AND... IT'S OVER!!" I flip off Todoroki-kun, my team making their way towards me.

"That was soo cool! How'd you react like that? I couldn't even see Iida-kun run towards us!"

"Revelry in the dark... Nice job, Midoriya..."

"Izu! That was so totally reckless! And awesome!"

"Well, it turned out fine so..." I smile sheepishly, getting interrupted by the announcements from Midnight.

3rd Person POV
"In first place, we have Team Midoriya, Uraraka, Yamazawa and Tokoyami! They actually managed to hold onto their headband for the entire battle! In second place, we have Team Bakugou, Ashido, Kirishima and Sero! In third place, we have Team Tetsutetsu, Shiozaki, Hatsume and Aoyama! In fourth place, we have Team Todoroki, Kaminari, Yaoyorozu and Iida! These four teams will proceed... to the final event!!" Whoops, cheers and some groans sound from the students and audience.

"WE'LL PROCEED TO THE AFTERNOON PORTION AFTER AN ONE-HOUR BREAK! SEE YOU THEN!!"

As everyone files out of the arena, they don't notice three boys are missing...

"So Todoroki-kun, what'd you like to talk about?"

That was legit so hard to write T^T But I can't wait for tournament arc! Oh and yes I did modify the teams to make sure that the students entering the final event are same as canon. So most matches will be skipped/briefly mentioned. This is Izu's story after all so yea.
