Make her ours now the diety called
I wouldn't listen to him. Wouldn't give the demon the satificfation of giving in to temptation. I would wait for Cassie until she was ready to be marked. The age old ceremony our kind performed to strengthen the bond.
She's ours, her blood is ours
Again i ignored him. Going over to the fridge to quench my thirst, instead of thinking of her blood. How her blood tasted, milk and honey it was intoxicating, nothing else in the world comparing to its unique flavor. Michel could survive off only it for the rest of his eternity, and he would. He just had to wait. With a grunt, he went back to the bag of O negative, pouring it in a wine glass. The blood never really quenching his thirst. His burning desire for more.
He'd set off into the streets again soon, to search for demons. He was made aware of elises presence before she even started taking the stairs down to the main floor, her heavy foot falls alerting him she meant to seek him out. He waited patiently, sipping at his blood.
"Michel" She said coming into the living room.
"What is it?" He asked
"I got the tickets for our trip to see the council." She said, flashing her phone before my eyes "in two weeks"
'I'll let Cassie know" I say now swirling the rest of my dinner around in its glass.
"Do that" She said
My eyes went blank as I notified her, searching for her mind through our bond, her frustrations came across clear at the late notice. I let out a small chuckle when she calls me a cad.
"Something funny?" Elise asks eye brows raised.
"No its nothing" I responded my chuckle dying down.
Such a sweet voice, as sweet as her blood
I continue to ignore the deity. He was getting more restless as time went on without marking her. I could feel his need, mixing with my own, he pulled and yanked at the bond, lighting up my unquenchable desire. My need for her. My other half.
"I'm going out" I said suddenly "I need to work off some steam."
Elises eyes softened at my remark. Her hands going to her sides she softly asked "want me to go with you? I could kill some demons myself about now."
"That would be appriciated" I say downing the rest of my glass in one swig.
We make our way outside after we're both ready to go, a light rain wetting my jacket and hair, it was dreary outside. I look back at Elise but she's already to the car, hand on her head she was consitrating on searching out a demon with her mind.
"I'll drive then" I say getting into the driver's side.
"I can't find one" She says eyes closing as she searches for the monsters essence. Demons, like vampires had a mental link to others of our kind. We could feel there presence on a smaller scale then other vampires, there minds working on a similar frequency but at a lesser copasity then our own.
"Maybe you get something further in the city." I say pulling the car out of the garage and peeling down the road.
"Doesn't hurt to give it a try." Elise says mind still scanning.
We drive on for over an hour, heading out of the city now and to an outskirts town. Street signs fly by as we get nowhere in our search. Rain falling heavily now, I pull over to the side of the road down a little street, stopping in front of a picket fenced house.
"Be happy we didn't find one in the city. That means Cassie and Roy are safe." She said looking over at me with apology in her eyes
"Yeah I know I'm just shocked we didn't find any. There always one or two stalking about." I said
"Let me look one more time." She says closing her eyes again to concentrate.
"Got one!" She said "in this town, to the north" she says pointing in the direction.
Finally some action.
I slam the car in drive and peel off, feeling the demons presence myself as we neared, I follow the trail. Swirling in and out of lanes, my fist bounces on my knee as I wait at the stop light.
"You really need to punch something don't you." She says
"You have no idea." I agree.
"Being celibate getting to you?" She asked
My eyes slowly blink as my annoyance kicks in.
"Who says I'm celibate" i said
"You haven't smelled of that woman in weeks. I'm guessing you called things off" She said
"It's none of your buisness" I bite out.
"Ok OK I was just asking" She said in defeated tone.
The light turns green and I ease the car forward. We were near, so near. The street was bare for miles, only coming up to a little gas station with a bar next to it after almost parking and going into the woods, not able to get an exact read on the location. The gas station and bar both looked run down, almost like they were on there last legs, rust forming on the outside of the gasstation.
"He's probably in the bar" I said pulling up to a parking space, and throwing the car in park."
"He may have sensed us and ran into those back woods." She said
"There's only one, it won't hurt to split up. You get the woods and I'll get the bar." I said getting out of the car.
"So I'm the one who has to get there shoes dirty?" She asked eye brows raised.
I rolled my eyes "fine you go in the bar."
"Thank you" she gleefully said
I tutted at her as she walked inside. I closed my eyes trying to sense the demon again. My eyes opened and I ran, so fast I knew the cameras wouldn't catch my shadow going past, I would just look like a glitch, suddenly there and suddenly not. I ran through the woods behind the bar, scooting out the whole area as I went. The further I ran from the bar, the further away he felt.
"He's deffinatly in the bar" Elise said into my mind "I think we have a shape shifter"
"Fantastic" I called back. "try to lure him outside."
"Already on it. He's running your way" She called.
I strained my ears to hear the shifter, eyes focused and trained on the direction of the bar I wait. Rustling of leaves underfoot could be heard then, the figure coming in hot and heavy, exertion riding him already by the sounds of his heavy panting.
"He's shifted" She called telepathically.
He was close now. I ran toward the panting sound of the demon, barreling straight into a massive wolf, a howl escaping his mouth as we hit the ground. Claws and fang out I bit down the second I made contact. Holding him in position, my arms locking around his neck in a choke hold while my legs hold his torso down, while he struggled to get free I dark his dark blood.
"Michel!" Elise says running up to me.
I ignore her continuing to drink, my feast before me. His strength weighning his legs strop moving, his torso stops heaving, and his whimpers become fewer and fewer.
"Michel!" She says again "that's just an ordinary wolf!" She bellows
"Shut up elise I can smell him, he's a demon" I grumbled into her mind. "Your not funny." I added tersely.
"Can't blame a girl for trying" she said but he words were cut off as another massive wolf came barreling ontop of her, fang snapping, the wolf tried to push its way to elises neck. Elise held it back with a single arm, the two on the ground in a struggle of strength.
I quickly toss my prey to the ground, it's heart beat a slowing drip, he was finished. In a second my hands are going to the wolves back, picking it up and halling it off of Elise, throwing it up against a tree in the process. The tree cracks, and leaves shutter and fall as the massive wolf reverberates off from the impact.
"Holly shit" Elise says rubbing her arm that was holding the wolf at bay.
"I thought there was only one" I said defeated.
Elise walked over to the wolf, readying to snap its neck when it's eyes fluttered back open, a snarl coming to its mouth, it. Elise lunged then, punching down with her fist, the wolves head flying down into the ground.
"That sucker didn't react fast enough" Elise said
"Quickly snap its neck so we can leave" I said.
Elise bent down and with a Crack its neck was broken, it's life force draining out, and returning to the pits of he'll where it came from. Me and Elise walk back to the car slowly, already drench from head to toe, I had a feeling neither of us was looking forward to sitting in a car wet.
"So" She said walking "what do you think the council wants?"
"Your guess is as good as mine but it deffknatly has to do with cassies psychic ability" I answered back
"If those old fuckers want to use her again...." Elise started
"They can't. She's barely a psychic this life." I said confidently "well just have to wait and see"
