"Why are we doing this in a sketchy ally way, we can go to my rental." Adam said
"Because I don't want to go anywhere with you until you do this" I answered irritably
"Ok ok" Adam conceded "let get this over with"
He held out the black pocket knife to me, taking it in hand I sliced away at my palm, tossing it back to Adam he did the same.
"Speak the words" I said
Adam started speaking in the language of he'll the words passing through his lips like crated metal, the voice was the voice of his deity. The air picked up, shuttering at the sinister words, the street lights flickering on and off. I could feel the magic in the air, the power in Adam's words. The smell of he'll rising.
"I... Adam... swear to never touch your mate." He breathed.
"I except" I answered and we shook hands, mixing our blood until it trickled down together and splashed on the concrete, sizzling away the second it touched the pavement.
Adam grabbed me into a bear hug, and I returned it, patting his back firmly, before breaking my hold. Smiling at eachother we began to walk down the allyway, laughing like idiots.
"Happy to have you back brother" I said
"Same" He said rising his head to peer at the street as we neared.
"Now I have an excuse to never hug that witch" He sneered
"I think she'll be happy about that too" I answered honestly.
My own diety calmed at the pack struck. Our mate was safe from Adam. Would be for eternity. Adam came around, me walking ahead on the quite desolate street. The shops closed, and the lights out everywhere except the street lights and occasional window, we walk down the road.
"Wanna find a bar?" Adam asked
"I need to get home to my mate." I said "something you wouldn't currently understand"
"Yeah mines been dead for awhile now. Wonder when she'll be reborn." He said, his voice carefree. "Until then I'm going to enjoy myself."
"Your hopeless" I say with a laugh
Adam smiles back at me, the blonde males carefree attitude rubbing off on me.
"Ok maybe one bar" I say
"That's the fucking spirit! Michel coming alive again! I know you need a meal." He said gleefully
"I am hungry" I said "let's go find some willing participants."
The bar was of the seedy variety, the outside labeled 'trendy bar'. Inside was more welcoming however, with plush booths and soft lighting, michel guessed it would do. The bar was packed, having to maneuver around a crowd of people Adam and Michel make there way to one of the far back booths. They knew the game. All they had to do was sit and wait, one of the advantages to being alluring to the human eyes.
"How long you think it'll take this time?" Adam asked
"Ten minutes" I answered with a smile
"I bet twenty" He said
We were both wrong it only taking five until three girls came around and sat at our booth. The pretty blonde lowered her lashes at me, her hand going to my thigh after a short conversation. I moved her hand away, while bending down to whisper in her ear.
"Let me bite your neck" I said with suggestion lacing my voice.
"Of course" she answered.
She smelled like watered down peonies, her blood thrumming under that delicate layer of skin, I bit down, my fangs punching out after my lips were already on her. The blood that rushed into my mouth hit my tongue, the hot liquid dulling the burn in my throat but never quenching it completly. Not like cassies would. I drank greedily in the open of the bar, the girl moaning, eyes rolling back in her head.
I let go then, licking the wound to heal it. Like dogs, our siliva had healing properties only ours had a bit of magic to it, the wound healing quickly.
I looked over at Adam then, he was just finishing up his own meal. The blonde vampires eyes glowed green in the dim light, as he drank his meal.
"Adam we should go now" I said anxious to leave and get back to cassie.
Adam let go then, leaving his girl sloppily bloody as he let go. He took a swig of his whisky then, chasing the blood he'd just drank. The girl slumped over, he drank to much. I looked over at the girl I'd just drank from, she was still awake a far off look to her eyes as she rode her high.
"You'll take your friends home when she wakes up and not rember tonight" I said with the power of suggestion
"Yes" she said automatically
"We just got here Michel. Stay and have another drink" Adam said
I got up, pushing myself up with my arms, and scooting past the girls. I was done with the seedy bar, my anxiety riding me. Adam got up with me, deciding to no longer press me on the issue.
"Alright this place is lame anyways" he said
We walked back to the car down the road. Adam stumbling over some on the way, I rolled my eyes.
"That girl had drugs in her" He said
"That was obvious when we were talking to them" I said
"Druged blood is the best" He said
"Get in the car" I said opening the passenger side door.
We drove back to the house. I wasn't sure what cassies reaction was going to be to Adam showing up unannounced. Once he explained the situation though he was sure she'd understand. The car reved, speeding down the lonely highway until we came up to the house, the blue mail box coming into view at the front of the driveway, the house hidden by trees and shrubbery. Adam laughed when we got up to the driveway and I threw it in park.
"Whats so funny?" I asked
"Bet Cassie flips out" He said
"I'll excuse you thinking that's funny because your currently high" I said sternly
We went inside then, the drugs already working there way out of Adam's system he walked straight. Elise was in the living room, watching t.v. with roy, she poped up and padded after us.
"What the he'll is this" She hissed at me.
"We made a blood oath" Adam said with a smile on his face.
"Seriosuly?" She asked surprise coating her words.
"Seriously. Cassies safe. Forever from him." I said.
"And I'm never touching the witch" Adam added happily
"Whats going on?" Cassies voice came from down the hallway, the sound of her steps nearing us.
Her eyes went wide at the veiw of Adam, and her heart beat increased rapidly. I could smell her fear like thick honey.
My diety stirred at the smell of her fear, but I shoved him down. She was fine.
"Calm down cassie" I said "he made a blood oath to never touch you" I said going over to her and placing a hand on her shoulder.
She looked up, grateful at the touch, her heart started to calm a little.
"Whats a blood oath?" She asked
"It's a ritual that uses magic to bind a person's words. Adam will die if he breaks his vow to michel" Elise said
"Ow" Cassie said body relaxing completly now.
Adam observed Cassie, eye brows furrowed, he stood there in silence for a moment. Cassie tensed again noticing his intense stare.
"What?" She asked
"You didn't flip your shit" adam said
"Should I have?" Cassie asked
"The past you would have" adam said
"Well that person's not me" cassie said defensively
He continued to perce Cassie with his bright green eyes. I almost growled. Almost.
"No shes not" adam simply responded
"So what do we do now?" Elise said breaking the awkward air.
"Now we get ready to leave." I said holding up all our new documents.
"Ow I hope you got me a good name" Elise said smiling.
"All of our first names are the same." Michel said "but don't worry your last name is now painintheass."
Cassie let out a small chuckle, and I smiled down at her. My perfect mate. We started moving our argument to the living room, myself leading the way.
"I think her name should be busybody" Adam said
"Alright guys seriously. You all aren't funny." Elise said
"I agree" Cassie added
"So where are we going next?" Adam asked
The discussion went on with several suggestions for the next location until we all eventually agreed on Australia.
"I don't think I know that many vampires living there" I said
"Most are in Europe and America." Adam said
"It sounds like fun" Cassie said
With everything decided, we all decided to head off to bed as the sun started to rise. Pushing the black out curtains closed, and dawning my sweat pants, I was just about to get into the bed when I sensed Cassie coming down to my room. A gentle knock came at the door.
"Come in" I called
"Hey" She said peaking her head into the door before coming in all the way.
Her eyes instantly went to my chest, then trailed down my abdomen, to my sweat pants, she swallowed loud. I almost let out a chuckle but I didn't want to embarrass her. Straining from the effort to hold it back, a small trickle of pride entered me instead.
"What do you need" I asked curiously
"I wanted to talk to you about tomorrow. I know we all said we'd leave tomorrow.. but I was hoping to see a little bit of the city with you." Cassie said
Ow.
"We need to leave. It's not safe to stay." I said
"But surely one more day wouldn't hurt." She said with an eye roll.
"I'll take you out in Australia." I said
"Your right it's silly for me to want this, but I just need a normal day after all this crazy." She said
"Did you not get that today?" I asked
"I wanted a normal day with you." She looked embarrassed at that admition.
I smile down at her, slowly walking my way to her, placing my arms around her back, our bodies close now I could feel her heat seeping into me.
Mark her the deity said and I gulped
"Well have plenty of normal days ahead of us but I can't rest until your safe. We're safe." I said, placing a kiss ontop of her brown head.
"Ok" She said and placed her hands behind my back, returning the loose hug. My smile broadened.
