(update: i just changed the time that seishun has to be at niiyama)
;;
seishun came out of the supply room with a cart of balls. kageyama's back was facing her, and he hadn't said a word. "was it that bad?" seishun asked, her brows furrowing. if there was one person whose opinion she cared about, it was his.
when he didn't speak, seishun peeked around to see his face. his mind was elsewhere, barely even hearing her. seishun's phone was placed back on the bench.
"hello?" seishun called, drawing out the word.
kageyama snapped out of his trance and looked up. "oh," he muttered. "sorry, did you say something?"
seishun quirked a brow. kageyama never said sorry, it wasn't in his vocabulary. "was my form that bad?" she asked, a frown falling on her lips. seishun had tried really hard to get the form of the hybrid serve to be up to kageyama's standards. it clearly wasn't, seeing his reaction.
kageyama blinked. he hadn't even watched the video. "i'm sure it was fine," he said, dropping the phone on the bench and sitting up.
"what do you mean, 'i'm sure it was fine'? did you even watch it?" seishun questioned.
"i did."
"liar." seishun grabbed her phone and unlocked it to show kageyama. when she saw the picture of her and rintarou on her screen, seishun's jaw fell slack. "this is why you're acting so weird? all 'cause of a picture?"
it's not just a picture, kageyama wanted to say. he held it in. kageyama grabbed a ball from the cart and mindlessly bounced it against the ground. "so, that's what you were doing last night?"
"yeah, something like that," seishun shrugged. how was she supposed to answer?
kageyama hummed. he wished he could better see the face of the guy seishun had been kissing. it was too dark, so his features were hard to see. who was he? how old was he? what sport did he play? how tall was he? there were so many questions kageyama hoped to ask, but he stuck with saying: "cool."
"you're being weird," seishun remarked, hitting him on the head with a ball. "why? are you jealous, or something?"
kageyama stiffened slightly, not enough for seishun to notice, but enough to make him uncomfortable. "why would i be?" kageyama snapped back, a little harsher than he intended. "do i have something to be jealous of?"
seishun was taken aback, but she couldn't help but chuckle. "so, you are."
kageyama reached over and grabbed ahold of her face, long fingers digging into her cheeks. his glare was sharp, his icy eyes piercing through seishun. "shut up, seishun."
"just admit that you're jealous," seishun taunted. a smile grew on her lips at kageyama's demeanor. "it doesn't hurt to be honest, for once."
kageyama's grip tightened on her face, but not hard enough to leave a mark. "shut it," he sneered. "i have nothing to be jealous of."
"yeah? doesn't sound like it," seishun smirked. seeing that kageyama was getting more irritated, seishun couldn't help but continue to provoke him. "are you in love with me or something?"
kageyama flinched a bit, his gaze widening a bit, but only for an instant. he was back to his usual glare a few moments later. he leaned a little closer, feeling his impulse and desire overtake his better judgment. he opened his mouth to let out another snide remark, or, admit to his feelings, but seishun's phone suddenly rang.
kageyama stepped back in disappointment, but it was soon forgotten.
seishun lifted her phone to see the caller ID. kageyama watched as her face twisted into confusion. "tobio, why's your mom calling me?"
