18. Career Talk

Aria pov

Victoria has been in school for a meer two weeks and she is already what everyone is talking about. I've barely seen Sebastian in those two weeks. He's been following her around like a lost cruppy and apparently he was assigned to help her adjust to the castle. Of course just my luck why couldn't have been anyone else in Slytherin, Imelda, Violet, Septimus anyone really. It had to be my boyfriend.

I was really missing him and watching him chase after her for weeks hurt. I already trashed the undercroft and the room of requirement and put it back together to trash it again. I snuck out to take my anger out on some spiders and poachers and let's just say they didn't see me coming. They were all dead shorty after I arrived. I got back into the castle grounds and no one noticed. Ominis has been around more than Sebastian but that isn't saying much. He mostly hangs around me in the library. I feel like they don't care anymore. Are they tired of me. Did they only want one thing from me and got it and now they're done?

I spend every night burning my skin off in the shower then crying myself to sleep. I've been tired and sad before but nothing like this. I miss them so much. It was nearing the end of January now and Professor Weasley said we were all assigned to have a talk with her about our future careers. I didn't really care anymore. I just wanted my boys back. I don't even know what happened ever since that girl came here I've been miserable. Weasley said my appointment with her was January the 28th after transfiguration class.

I woke up late on the twenty eighth. I was fifteen minutes late to Weasley's class, and I know she and I have the career talk after, but it couldn't be a worse day. Today was Sebastian, Ominis and I's five months anniversary and they don't seem to care or remember. So I was already in a mood. When Professor Weasley called me after class I stayed where I was. I watched the boys just walk out of the room without so much as a glance back at me. My heart nearly shattered to pieces.

"Miss Black" Professor Weasley sighed.

"Yes" I said trying not to let my emotions out.

"I'm not one to insert myself in my students and especially their personal love life's but have noticed a difference in you as of lately, and I have noticed you not being as close to Mr. Sallow ether is everything okay" she asks.

"I don't know. One day everything was fine and the next it wasn't ever since that, that — girl got here everything's been wrong" I say angrily and then sadly. I didn't notice the tears until I was handed a hanky.

"Well Miss Easton does have a presence but—"Weasley starts.

"Is she a Veela?" I ask quickly.

"I can't answer that" she tells me.

"Why" I ask.

"Classified information" I stared at her.

"Please professor I have to know it's not entirely his fault and he's just under some kind of sirens song" I say.

"Miss Black" she sighed again.

"Please" I beg.

"Yes she is a quarter Veela, but don't go telling anyone you hear me." She says. I nodded. "Now we're here to discuss your career options, so let's get back to that. What do you see yourself doing after hogwarts"

"I'm not sure." I say.

"Well lucky for you Miss Black you have a few options open to you, there's Auror, a curse breaker through Gringotts bank or you can just work in the ministry, there's always a teacher as well there's many you can qualify for with your grades and classes your taking they are very versatile for most jobs" she tells me.

"Okay" I say not really anymore sure.

"Well here's a brochure that explains all the careers and the grades needed for them all. I want you to look it over this weekend and we'll have another chat Monday after class." Weasley said. I looked at the pamphlet she handed me.

I nodded and picked up my bag and books and walked back to my dorm. I threw the pamphlet on the nightstand. I climbed into my bed and loathed in my self pity. Was I being naive. Is it because of what happened with the Gaunts. They don't want me now. Now I didn't see Poppy much or Natty either. I was feeling so alone now. I didn't even feel like this when I started. 

I snuck out of the castle that night and made my way to the forbidden forest. I cast a disillusionment charm over myself and went looking for the nasty poachers. I found them and they did put up a good fight, but in the end my ancient magic won.

"Bombarda! Confringo! Stupify! Diffindo!" I shouted the spells. The went down one by one. My ancient magic summoned lightning and that was it. I cleared out the camp and freed the beasts that were in cages. I felt something hit my back and then my vision went black.

Sebastian pov

I was following Victoria to class. She was an interesting girl to say the least. So attentive in class and with immaculate work. We was telling about her old school Beauxbatons after transfiguration class, I barely heard Professor Weasley call Aria over to her. I took a quick glance she looked so sad and then I was pulled away to Lunch. Spent the rest of the day doing homework in the library. Ominis was next to me he seemed to be jumpy about something.

"Ominis what's wrong" I ask him quietly.

"Something doesn't feel right" he says.

"What do you mean?" I ask.

"I'm not sure, it might have something to do with Aria" he says.

"What?"

"She's been distant and I think somethings wrong" he says.

Thinking about it, true I haven't seen her much since the start of the new year, but I'm sure it's fine we've all just been busy.

"Om, I'm sure everything is fine, she's just busy I'm sure" I tell him.

"No I don't think that's it" he says.

"Time to pack it up boys the library is closing and I mean it Mr. Sallow" Scribner came over to tell us, we took our books and walked back to the dungeons.

That's when I saw it a trick in the light and movement heading to the exit of the castle and to the grounds. I knew that silhouette. I told Ominis I forgot a book and I'll meet him in the common room later he nodded and I quickly cast a disillusionment over myself and followed her out of the castle all the way to the forest. I watched her take out the poachers one by one. I was smiling the whole time. I stood behind a tree so she wouldn't see me, but I saw her. Maybe Ominis was right.

I was worried at first. How long has she been doing this by herself? Why was she doing this by herself? I saw when she was done and going to go back to the castle I saw someone seek up behind her and stun her. I quickly got them and he fell back and I wiped their memories of the event. I picked her up and took her all the way to the castle and right to her common room and snuck her into her dorm before anyone could see. I then left before I was caught. When I was back in my on dorm ominis questioned me. But I was able to avoid him enough when Victoria came over to talk about classes and her homework. I spent the rest of the night in the common room with her.
