After a few moments, Evangeline gained her composure, taking a few more steps backwards and placing one of her hands on the wall to steady herself. "You weren't joking," she murmured softly.

"The rest of the food is getting cold," the vampire responded gruffly, gesturing vaguely towards the table.

Evangeline didn't move for a few moments, not showing him any signs that she had any intentions of returning to her seat. Her eyes suddenly narrowed as they flickered all over him, as though she were analyzing the towering figure.

"You're not going to kill me, are you?" She asked, her tone much more confident than previously. "You don't have any reason to, after all," she added, though it seemed more as though she were trying to convince herself of her own safety than anything.

"If I had any intentions of killing you I would have done so already," he responded. "As of now, I do not desire to hurt you."

"As of now," Evangeline repeated

"Congratulations. I am glad to know that your hearing is working properly."

"You know what I meant," Evangeline grumbled, turning around so that her back was slightly towards him, though not completely.

"I'm not hungry anymore," she finally said after a long moment. "I am no longer in the mood to eat. I shall return back to my cottage now, then go to the marketplace."

"Already?" Vlad quipped up. "You've only just arrived. I doubt even ten minutes have passed by since you arrived at the castle. Do not tell me that my.. display is what is driving you to leave so soon."

"In my defense, getting lunged at by a man moving faster than a carriage would certainly put anybody out of their desire to eat. There really is nothing like watching your life flash by to fill your stomach up," she responded dryly.

"You're the one who wanted me to show you in the first place," Vlad said.

"You offered," she retorted.

"Fair. You may leave."

Without a word, Evangeline turned on her heel and left the dining hall.

Within roughly five minutes, she found herself standing outside, in front of her cottage, attaching the small bag of coins to her belt with a thin tweed rope, her brow furrowed in concentration as her fingers nimbly threaded it around the pouch to fasten it tightly.
