Note: we're fast forwarding 2 months into their honeymoon

Sunlight streamed into the window, landing right on Evangeline's face. She was fast asleep, eyes closed and with her soft lashes twitching slightly- she was waking up.

Vlad laid beside her, an arm wrapped around her shoulders as he kept her tucked into his chest.

He'd spent the past couple of minutes watching her, having woken up but not wishing to disturb her by getting out of bed.

Finally though, it appeared that she was coming to.

He ruffled her hair lightly, and she groaned, sighing softly as she shakily propped herself up on one elbow.

"What year is it again?" She mumbled sleepily.

"1948," he responded in a matter of fact sort of fashion.

Startled by his serious tone, her eyes widened in confusion and alarm before quickly realizing he was joking- she hadn't been able to tell by his voice alone, but the smile in his eyes tipped her off.

"Ugh... I'm too tired for this."

He chuckled, hoisting her up by the waist and yanking her over his chest so that she found herself laying on top of him.

However, much to his surprise, she winced in pain at the sensation- one that usually would've had her giggling, happy to be close to him.

"Are you alright?"

"I..." she murmured, pushing the upper half of her body off of him, looking down at her chest.

"It- it hurts... what on earth..."

"What's wrong?" He asked, now sounding even more concerned than before.

"It's nothing," she responded after a moment. "I'm okay."

For a moment, he wanted to press on, but quickly decided not to try and pressure her. If it was serious, she'd come to him in time.

However, he did make a mental note to keep an eye on her.

She laid herself back down onto his chest, though this time she made an effort not to let her own meet his, keeping an inch between them.

Timeskip: An hour later

The two had spent a bit of time in bed together, flirting, talking, and discussing plans for the day. They decided to start off by eating out.

It was about 9 am when they started getting ready. Evangeline had been uncharacteristically quiet all morning, but he'd chalked it up to her still being tired.

They hadn't returned home the previous night since four in the morning, after all.

Before they left the manor to look for breakfast, however, he'd seen her rush to the bathroom. Nervous, he decided to wait outside the door for her to be done.

But instead of hearing the noises of someone actually using the toilet, he heard what sounded like... throwing up?

"Evangeline?" He called out, knocking on the door "Are you okay? I'm coming in."

She didn't have time to respond before he shoved the door open and stepped inside, finding her kneeling over the toilet and throwing up what felt like mountains of food.

Her face was pale, tears streaming down her flushed cheeks as she gagged repeatedly, and he immediately knelt by her, pulling her hair out of her face so that it wouldn't get dirty.

His eyes were wide with fear as he tried to comfort her through the vomit session, patting her on the back and whispering soothing nothings into her ear.

"Shhh, it's okay, you're okay... everything is going to be fine, darling- just take deep breaths, alright?"

All the while, his brain was moving a million miles per hour- what was going on? Where was this coming from? Was it something she ate?

Suddenly, it all clicked.

In the three months that they'd been living together, she hadn't once told him she was on her period, which, considering how active they were in bed, would've been impossible to hide.

So clearly, she hadn't had her period in a while.

She'd also been exhausted for the past couple of days, and the night before, he'd had to carry her home.

Fatigue.

Then this morning, her breasts had been tender, so sensitive that she couldn't lay on him.

And now she was throwing up like there was no tomorrow- morning sickness.

Could it have been possible that she was... pregnant?
