13: THE LIGHTS

ARIES:

I sat on the stage in the mess hall, my feet kicked up onto a stool. Deecon stands at the podium high and mighty with his chest puffed out. I laugh to myself, I am enjoying watching him squirm as every eye is on him. As if everyone didn't have that question in their head about how he feels with Gemini's return. Scorpz sits on the right side of him, looking up at him like a love sick puppy.

"It is true..-" Deecon begins and every side conversation stops, you could hear a pin drop in the room.

"-Gemini has returned to us. Ten years here was eons for her, trapped inside her mind. As far as operations and training go, we will continue as normal. She is shaken up and will most likely remain in her estate while she recovers.-"

I smirk.

Come on Deecon, give the crowd something they can chew on.

"-Aries will be taking over part of my classes while I catch Gemini up on how things have operated in her absence."

I kick the stool in front of me and it crashes off the stage.

He will be looking after her? The balls on this half breed.

"As if she would let you in the front gate." I scoff at him.

Everyone in the crowd leaned in, they loved seeing Deecon and I bicker with one another, but this one was about to get interesting. I look over to Scorpz, her smile cracking. "What do you think about that Scorpz? Gemini is back for one day and already your boyfriend will risk his life trying to speak to her." I grin. She stands up so fast the chair behind her topples over and she storms off the stage. "For once could you just sit and listen instead of interrupting like a prick?" Deecon snarls at me.

Yes, pretty boy. Get your panties in a twist.

"She made me throw you out of her house, do you not understand that you destroyed her faith in you?" I step closer to the podium as I enjoy his face fall.

"And she needs you!?-" There it is, I'm under your skin aren't I?

"-The guy who abandoned her when she got sick!? I stayed with her day and night while you got drunk and slept with every local on the strip!" He pushes my chest back and my fist begins to ball up. "Do you think those memories didn't mess with my mind as well!? I couldn't be by her side while you suffocated her and-"

'Deecon! Aries! Please! Help me!' Shouts into my mind.

Gemini.

Deecon drops his strong stance, noticing my break in focus and loss for words.

"Aries, what is it?" He says with worry.

"Gemini, she's in trouble." I say swiftly as I leap off the stage and race for the doors. I hear Deecon's footsteps as he sprints after me. "What kind of trouble!?" He shouts to me. "I don't know! She just said 'Help me!'"

I leap from the ground along with Deecon and shoot into the sky, staring down at her estate.

The lights.

Deecon had set timers on the lights to conserve energy for the compound. He knew she would have appreciated thinking of the planet before his luxury.

"Your fucking timers!" I snapped at him.

I burst through the front door with Deecon hot on my trail, I couldn't fight him to stay back when I didn't know what kind of state Gemini would be in. Would she need me? Or would Deecon be the only one to bring her back from the edge of a cliff?

"Eden! Lights on!" Deecon commands the house. The lights flash on and we see Gemini scrunched into a ball under the table, her screams not stopping despite the light coming back to her eyesight.
