29: THE FISH IN THE BOWL

TRITON:

I sit my back against the metal door, eavesdropping through the slat as I hear Aries return, Gemini already snapping questions at him.

"Scorpz spilled her guts once I mentioned the name Triton."

I grin.

Good, shake in fear.

I turn my head a bit as I look out to the living room from the slat, Aries sitting Gemini down and asking her if she was buzzed, needing her to be in a number state for the news.

"She admitted to erasing Deecon's mind throughout the years, pretending to be his professor that one day with the Starzithian pendant. That's why you couldn't sense her so close to you. Scorpz told me the things Vyx was making her do in Paradise, using her venomous sting to put down the creatures that caused guards trouble. Helping them drag in body after body to the tables and injecting them with the God's serum. She watched millions die before her eyes because they weren't compatible. She realized Vyx was using her as a weapon and she could take it no longer.. So she nudged Deecon in the direction of you. She said Triton, the son of Poseidon is like you, Gemini.. He wants to rip Vyx's lifeless body from that throne, the same path you took forever to choose.. But Scorpz knew. She knew these humans had changed you and how you would do anything to protect them. Go against Vyx once you remembered the truth behind the planets of Paradise... and Triton would be by your side, fighting for the same reason.

She said, and I quote 'Look at the other Zodiacs, do you think anyone besides you and Triton would take a staff to the skull for Gemini? To not back down when things got too thick to cut through? If you had decided that the humans weren't worth saving and pushed Gemini in the direction of being the Decider again.. Triton would be our last hope to take Vyx down... but Gemini and Triton together? Aries, they would be unstoppable.' She said she should have told Deecon but with no protection or you to calm him, he would kill her where she stands.. And she had nowhere to go if she chose to flee. Seeing you lifeless on that porch when her, Leo and Virgo arrived... She thought what was the point anymore, she accepted her fate that everyone would be damned by Vyx's wrath."

Scorpz.. Pushed me to meet Gemini that night on the rooftop? To see if we would follow down the same path? Has my strings been pulled my entire life to be on the same track as Gemini?

I ball up my fist to pound the ground beside me put halt myself, I can't let them know I am listening in. I turn my eye to the slat again, Gemini placing her face in her hands and silently sobbing, "I have lost him, Aries. Hate consumes him.. He has turned to his old ways, the monster I feared all those years ago. I don't believe he sees the full picture of what he is choosing, his tunnel vision only on hurting those who have hurt him."

She sees me as a monster but I am not, I am damning souls just like she has. How hypocritical that she gets to choose who is deemed worthy and who's not. I stand up from the door and pace back and forth, I understand her anger now being trapped.

I hear the front door open and I walk over to the glass wall, seeing Aries and Edna walk out into the front yard. Probably discussing which words to use around Gemini since she is crumbling under the actions she has chosen locking me in here.

"They are talking about how to deal with us."

I hear a demonic voice from the living room, I get crouched by the slat and don't see Gemini. The voice coming from below the stairs and my view ends at the top of them.

"Shut up, they are trying to help us." A softer voice says, Gemini's melodic tone.

Who was she talking to?

"They think we will let him out." It replies, the tone making my bones feel hollow as Gemini speaks to it.

"Go.. away." She orders. It must have carried it out because it didn't reply to her this time. I strained my eyes trying to see further down the staircase and then quickly retreat as I hear the front door open again.
