He was right, every single one of them had a trait that clashed with someone. I assume they will kill each other by the end of the week.. But we needed them.

I look down on all their bowed heads, "Then we have a lot of work to do.. Scorpz! Leo! Show them where they will be staying... I need to catch up with my father."

Kyto and I walked along the path I had created from the constant walking into the forest at night. I went to tell him how I had been lost on Vyx's radar but he already knew, he knew about the Sun and Vyx locked down all of Veedu. She panicked not knowing how to punish me for killing her creation. He didn't know I was alive until he heard a Starzithian say they felt another godly presence on Sky when he did recon. Kyto didn't know for sure it was me until he managed to get Cane to look inside Aries' mind from Veedu. It was Cane's special gift to look through someone else's eyes, after he had disappointed my father in Fierita, he owed him his life.

"So Vyx doesn't know I've come back from the dead?" I snort, I guess she didn't know everything.

"Vyx will find out soon once she is notified of this last mission she ordered. She could only track the sound of whispers from your mind, the part of the galaxy you come from bounces off like a satellite. Once those whispers went silent, she thought you were gone."

He tells me how it took over a couple years to plan their escape to the Eden system. Vyx's security was tight and sensitive to anything out of the ordinary since my death. My mother fights him every step of the way, refusing to go with him.

"She didn't tell Vyx the moment she knew you were planning on committing treason?" I ask, kicking a small rock down the path.

"No, her loyalty lies deep but not enough to bring me to my death." I snickered a bit. My parents have always been so opposite, I always wondered how they stayed together all this time.

"So you really had to endure a nightmare in order to get a dream?"

I nod, "You and mother were there.. Kind of. You were basically robots, telling me how proud you are of me." I tease him.

He looks up to the trees above us, "We are. Even if your mother never voiced it, she loves you so dearly."

I huff, "Then why would she fight alongside our enemy?"

He ponders for a bit, "Your mother is a stubborn woman.. But she is loyal. She believes what Vyx does is for the greater good for our species."

I point my palm to the ground and float a long piece of a weed to it, ripping tiny pieces from it to distract my irritation.

"She chose her over her own daughter?" I mumble. Kyto catches the frustration and stops walking, staring up at the trees again.

"You know, not every question you have in this universe will have a direct answer. Sometimes people's choices throughout their entire life is what led them to behave a certain way. It's not one choice over the other, it could have been a thousand that tipped the scale." Kyto closes his eyes and feels the slight breeze on his face, the sound of the leaves rustling from the branches.

I look at him, he's calm, joyful even. Like the thought of war wasn't even entering his mind, he was at peace in that moment. Away from Vyx, away from control, back on the planet he had a family with.

I sit on a fallen tree stump, tossing the rest of the weed shrapnel to the ground.

Kyto finally opened his eyes and smiled to me, "What has gotten my daughter's spirit so tangled?"

I brush off the question, his favorite thing to do was solve my problems no matter how small but I felt.. Silly. Silly to think my boy problems should even be brought up the same day war is talked about. I'm exhausted just thinking about catching Kyto up on everything.
