32: I SAID I WOULD TRY

GEMINI:

Triton and I sit across from each other on the floor, tossing a sphere of water for him to practice more.

We hear the front door open and Edna squealing into the kitchen, "Gemma! I brought your favorite card game for tomorrow's activities!"

Triton holds his breath, tilting his head to the side to see the door, the sphere of water landing in the middle of us, a puddle crashing onto the marble floor. We both look at each other and try not to laugh.

"Gemini! Are you in the backyard again?" Aries calls for me and I step over to the slat, my voice startling both of them as they look up to the door.

Aries sprints up to it, "Did he trick you? Has he escaped?"

Triton lets out a small chuckle as he flashes his eyes through the slat to Aries.

"Just having a bit of a chat, Aries. Nothing to worry about, I will go to the other side of the room and you can let Gemini out."

Aries' shocked expression is frozen in the slat.

"I am fine, Aries. Let me out, Triton will stay in the room." I explain and Triton pins himself to the back wall.

I lead Aries and Edna out to the backyard and tell them what has happened since he left to Darus. Aries of course scoffs, "And you believe him? You truly think he is changing his mind?"

I crossed my arms and scowled at him, "Do you think I am stupid for talking to him?" A question Aries chose his words carefully to answer, "I just think you take it easy on him. Two months ago he wanted to drown Sage and Scorpz, ruin our progress and now what? You want to let him out because he said his famous sweet words to you?"

Now I scoff at him, "I do not want to let him out until I know for sure but.. I don't want to treat him like a prisoner if he is looking for guidance."

He looks to Edna for her input but I knew she was team Deecon-..Triton, she should have my back. She looks uneasy as she looks up to me from the porch stair, "Maybe he is changing his mind but.. His threats were serious Gemma, two months in that cage has probably made him desperate to escape and you-" She stops herself, biting her tongue.

"Say it." I order her and she sways her head back and forth.

"You.. say yes to him so easily."

I cackle, uncrossing my arms and looking up to the night sky. "What day did everyone lose faith in my decisions? ...Pollux, do you agree with me?" I summon her and she appears by my side, cackling along with me.

Edna leaps from the stairs and into Aries arms as she sees Pollux for the first time.

"Who-.. what is that thing!?" She exclaims, trying to hide her face in Aries' chest.

Pollux growls, flicking her long dark hair back from her shoulder. A couple matted curls flopping back over the side of her face.

"Everyone calls me a 'thing'... as if I don't look like a full formed woman."

I comfort her, I liked being the light twin in this tantiram. My voice was sweeter, my emotions more calm and relaxed.

Aries pulls Edna from his chest and sighs, "This is Pollux, the dark twin.. Gemini's tantiram."

Edna gasps, "You mean to tell me this is Gemini's dark and light splitting into two beings?"

Pollux looks to me surprised, "I'll be damned, the human catches on quicker than the God's."

I smile at Edna, "She has always been the smartest one in the room."

Pollux sneers, "Excluding us of course." Pollux and I bump elbows, a new handshake we have created in this new found friendship.
