WE HAD GONE to the armory earlier and found all sorts of stuff. Flash bangs, riot gear-- which Daryl refused to wear, even after T-dog suggested we could boil them. Now, we were getting ready to go further into the prison. It was gonna be me, Daryl, Rick, T-dog, Glenn, Maggie, and Hershel. I fixed my belt, making sure I had my knife and gun. We said our goodbyes to the rest of the group and headed out.
Rick gave his keys to Daryl and he unlocked a gate leading into a hallway. It was dark so we had to use our flashlights. We crept along the walls, turning sharply at any corner-- waiting for something to be there. But nothing was ever there.
Rick and Daryl walked at the front. I followed closely behind Maggie. There was absolutely no light in here except for our flashlights. And whenever the light danced all over the room, I'd catch a glimpse of a bloody, torn apart corpse on the floor.
Glenn had a spray paint can that he used to keep track of where we were going. He sprayed arrows on the walls pointing in the direction we had just been in, so we'd be able to find our way back.
The sound of a high pitched shriek echoed throughout the room, I quickly connected the sound to Maggie and hastily turned around. But thankfully, nothing was wrong. She and Glenn had just bumped into each other and got scared.
We turned another corner and pointed our flashlights in any direction, Glenn spray painted another arrow. There was another hallway that split in two directions, we decided to go left. There was a loud thud that caught our attention. So we followed it. Going down the hallway, we turned yet another corner. I could already hear the familiar, low snarling.
Walkers.
There were a bunch of them at the end of the hallway, Rick's light illuminated them and they all started following like moths to a flame.
We had no choice but to run the other way. The walkers chased behind us, it was dark and the lights were flashing everywhere from how fast we were moving-- I was sure I'd get lost if it wasn't for the loud yelling of the group.
I kept running-- the thumping boots against the ground and the growling of the walkers were the only sounds that filled my ears. Finally, it seemed we had lost them. So we crouched down next to each other, keeping our voices just above a whisper.
"Where's Glenn and Maggie?" Rick suddenly asked. I looked around, we had lost them. I didn't even see them separate from us.
"We have to go back." Hershel spoke.
"But which way?"
We got up, Rick opened another door and it creaked loudly. Going down another hallway-- we whisper yelled Glenn and Maggie's names. I walked behind Daryl and shone my flashlight around, looking for any sign of the two.
A loud scream rang out throughout the hallways. Daryl and I quickly turned our heads to where the noise came from. I knew who that was--
"That's Hershel--" I said, already beginning to panic-- just thinking about what could've happened.
