Chiara pulled the trigger, but at the last second, she turned the gun and fired at the wall. The bullet ricocheted off the plaster, sending a shower of dust and debris flying.
"Arghhhhh!" Chiara screamed, her hands shaking."Why can't I just kill him? Why?!"
Alessandro took a cautious step towards her. "Chiara, please, calm down,"
"Don't come any closer!" Chiara yelled, "Just stay back!"
Chiara's hand shook as she aimed the gun at Alessandro again. She could feel the barrel of the gun trembling, her finger trembling on the trigger.
"I will kill you this time," Chiara said.
"Chiara, stop!" a new voice yelled, and both Alessandro and Chiara turned to see Gabriel standing in the doorway.
Chiara turned towards him, her eyes wild. "Stay out of this!" she yelled. "This is between me and him!"
"But he didn't do it!" Gabriel said, "He didn't kill our parents"
"You're alive?" Chiara said,
"I'm alive, Chiara," Gabriel said. "I'm your brother - Gabriel River. And Alessandro didn't kill our parents."
"Don't believe him," Chiara said, her eyes fixed on Alessandro. "He's the one. I saw him that night."
"Chiara, you saw him," Gabriel said. "But he wasn't the one who did it.
"Yes, he was not the one," a new voice said, and both Chiara and Gabriel turned to see Matteo standing in the doorway.
"Matteo!" Chiara said
"I'm the one who killed your parents," Matteo said,
"What are you talking about?" Chiara said "It was Alessandro's tattoo that I saw!"
"We both have the same tattoo," Matteo said. "You must have seen me and mistaken me for him."
"That's not possible!" Chiara said. "I know what I saw."
Matteo took a deep breath, his eyes locked on Chiara's. "I can explain everything.

"Please, don't hurt my family," Jude said, his voice shaking. "We'll give you anything you want, just please don't hurt them."
"I hate it when people talk too much," Alessandro said
"I'm sorry, please," Jude said,. "I'm just trying to help my family."
"You know what? Let's end this," Matteo said, raising his gun and pointing it at them
"No!" Alessandro yelled, lunging forward and grabbing Matteo's arm. "We don't have to kill them! We can just leave!"
"Are you crazy?" Matteo said, struggling against Alessandro's grip. "You know we can't just walk away from this!"
"But we didn't have to waste innocent blood," Alessandro said,
"I'm just following father's instructions," Matteo said, his eyes cold and hard. "Now get out of my way."
He pointed his gun at Jude and Sofia and fired.
"No!" Chiara screamed,
Matteo turned towards her, his eyes filled with rage. "You're next," he said, his voice low and deadly.
"I won't let you kill her," Alessandro said
Matteo laughed, a harsh, mirthless sound. "You really think you can stop me?" he said, a cruel smile on his face.
